Job Description
We are looking for an experienced Workday Functional Architect to own the design, configuration, and architecture of one or more Workday functional areas: Payroll, Benefits & Absence, or Compensation.
The role requires deep functional expertise in a primary module and strong cross‑functional collaboration to ensure accurate, scalable, and compliant Workday solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the architecture and configuration for one or more Workday functional areas:
- Payroll, Benefits & Absence, and/or Compensation
- Design and maintain scalable Workday configurations aligned with business and compliance requirements
- Configure eligibility rules, plans, calculations, business processes, and policies
- Partner closely with HCM, Payroll, Benefits, Absence, Compensation, and Integration teams
- Ensure accurate downstream and upstream impacts across Workday modules
- Lead testing, regression testing, and production deployments during Workday releases
- Perform data audits and resolve data integrity issues
- Create and maintain custom reports (Standard, Advanced, Composite, Matrix)
- Support Workday integrations impacting Payroll, Benefits, Absence, and Compensation
- Prepare change management documentation and end‑user guides
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, automation, employee experience, and system innovation (including Workday AI features)
Functional Expertise (Any One or More)
Payroll
- Payroll eligibility rules, earnings, deductions, garnishments, retro and off‑cycle payroll
- Federal, state, and local tax configurations
- Year‑end processing and payroll compliance
- US Payroll experience required
Benefits & Absence
- Benefits configuration: Medical, Dental, Vision, HSA, FSA, Life, Disability, 401(k)
- Absence and leave plans including FMLA and state leave programs
- ACA, COBRA, and compliance reporting
- Integration support with benefits vendors and payroll
Compensation
- Core and Advanced Compensation programs
- Merit, bonus, allowance, and equity plans
- Compensation grades, packages, job profiles, and statements
- Scorecards, eligibility rules, and compensation business processes
Qualifications
- 4–8 years of Workday functional configuration experience
- Strong expertise in at least one Workday module (Payroll OR Benefits & Absence OR Compensation)
- Solid understanding of cross‑functional touchpoints between HCM, Payroll, Benefits, Absence, and Compensation
- Experience with reports, testing, audits, and production support
Preferred Qualifications
- Workday Certification in Payroll, Benefits, Absence, and/or Compensation
- Experience with global deployments (USA / India)
- Consulting or multi‑company environment experience
- Strong analytical and stakeholder management skills
