JOB DESCRIPTION

 

 

JOB TITLE:  Custodian

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR:       Head Custodian, Principal, Chief Operations Officer 

QUALIFICATIONS:          

  • High School Diploma, G.E.D. Certificate
  • Pass health examination
  • Have no immoral or criminal history
  • Have ability to work with other staff members and with children
  • Be able to perform tasks that require moderate physical exertion

 

DUTIES:

  • Perform daily classroom cleaning and other areas of the building as directed. 
  • Clean restrooms thoroughly and as frequently as directed or as needed.
  • Remove trash and waste from building
  • Observe and correct or report safety or health hazards
  • Spot clean doors, floors, walls, desks, glass and equipment as needed or as scheduled
  • Clean grounds as needed or directed
  • Work on special projects as requested, serve as project leader if requested
  • Lock or unlock buildings, secure all windows and other openings as required
  • Receive and store supplies, order as needed
  • Dust mop all corridors three times daily, clean entrances, entrance mats and steps daily or more often as needed
  • Operate heating plant (if instructed to do so) in an efficient and safe manner, and keep mechanical room and equipment clean and in good condition
  • Perform preventative maintenance tasks not requiring technical skills at every opportunity.  Report maintenance needs promptly to Head Custodian or Principal in writing
  • Remove snow and ice from walks, steps and loading areas
  • Store and care for all equipment
  • Display and retrieve American Flag in proper manner
  • Other services as required or scheduled by Head Custodian, Principal, Chief Operations Officer, or Superintendent
