People Operations Generalist
Reports To: Director of People Operations & Implementation
Status: Full-time; Exempt
Location: Hybrid – Regional Assignment (HQ – Los Angeles or San Gabriel Valley) – noted at time of offer.
Hours of Operation: Monday-Friday; 9:00am-6:00pm; Occasional flexibility required based on regional program needs.
Salary Range: $75,000–$88,000 annually

What We Do:
Woodcraft Rangers provides TK-12 expanded learning programs, including before and after school, specialty enrichment, and summer learning. In the past few years, Woodcraft has expanded its menu of services beyond traditional afterschool programs and summer camps to include early learning, environmental and social justice, college access, and inclusion services for youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Additionally, we offer LifeCraft, a college and career advancement program to support the development of approximately 2,000 staff. Today, Woodcraft Rangers serves more than 30,000 youth ages 4 to 18 each year across 150 plus Title I schools in Los Angeles, San Bernardino, and Riverside counties, and continues to expand its reach.

Role Overview:
The People Operations Generalist serves as the primary People partner for managers and staff within an assigned region, providing consistent, day-to-day support across the employee lifecycle. Reporting to the Director of People Operations & Implementation, this role ensures that People processes, policies, and practices are applied accurately and consistently.
This role partners closely with managers to support onboarding, performance management, and People experience, while coordinating with Centers of Expertise – including Talent & People Experience, People Relations & Governance, Payroll & Benefits, and Risk Management to ensure issues are routed and resolved effectively.
The People Operations Generalist also plays a key role in identifying trends, surfacing gaps, and providing field insights to continuously improve People systems and processes.
Responsibilities:
Regional People Support & Manager Partnership
People Lifecycle Support
Deliver discipline communications and documentation as directed by People Relations & Governance, ensuring consistency, clarity, and appropriate documentation at the site level.
Escalate People relations concerns, potential investigations, or high-risk situations to People Relations & Governance and the Director of People Operations & Implementation per the People Decision Rights & Escalation Framework.
Payroll Triage & Records
Continuous Improvement & Insights
Help managers understand People processes, resources, and points of contact within the People service model, reinforcing clarity around when and how to engage different People teams.
Qualifications/Skills:
Experience in youth development, education, afterschool, nonprofit, or government-contracting organizations (preferred)
