Role Overview
Looking for a GitHub Implementation Specialist to manage setup, configuration, and support of GitHub Enterprise Server (GHES) in on-prem or private cloud environments. The role involves installation, migrations, security setup, and ongoing platform support.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and upgrade GitHub Enterprise Server (GHES).
- Set up High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR), including backups and failover.
- Configure user access via SAML SSO, LDAP, and Active Directory.
- Migrate code repositories from SVN, GitLab, Bitbucket, etc. to GitHub.
- Implement repository governance (branch rules, access control, audit logs).
- Enable GitHub Advanced Security (code scanning, secret scanning, etc.).
- Integrate GHES with tools like Jira, Jenkins, Artifactory, and SIEM systems.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and manage updates.
- Create SOPs, documentation, and provide L2/L3 support.
Required Skills
- Experience with GitHub Enterprise Server (on-prem/self-hosted).
- Strong Linux administration skills.
- Knowledge of networking basics (DNS, SSL/TLS, load balancers).
- Experience with SSO (SAML), LDAP, and Active Directory.
- Familiarity with GitHub security features (Dependabot, secret scanning).
- Scripting knowledge (Bash/Python).
- Good understanding of Git workflows and repository management.
- Experience with backup, DR, and private cloud/VM environments.
Nice to Have
- GitHub certifications.
- Experience with Git migrations (GitLab, Bitbucket, SVN).
- Knowledge of Docker or container-based environments.
