About The Role
Narwal is seeking a highly experienced Technical Delivery Lead specializing in Data Engineering to join our dynamic team in Pune on a hybrid work basis. This pivotal role involves leading the design, development, and delivery of enterprise-scale data engineering solutions. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of technical expertise and leadership skills, capable of managing a team of 10–15 Data Engineers while actively participating in architecture, solution design, and implementation tasks.
As a Technical Delivery Lead, you will act as a bridge between business requirements and technical execution, driving Agile methodologies, engaging with senior stakeholders, and ensuring the successful delivery of complex data programs. This role offers an excellent opportunity to influence strategic data initiatives and work in a collaborative environment focused on innovation and excellence.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have over 12 years of overall IT experience, with at least 5 years in leading Data Engineering teams. Proven experience in delivering large-scale cloud data platforms and modern data architectures is essential. Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills are required. Certifications in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and Agile methodologies such as Scrum Master or SAFe are preferred. Candidates should possess hands-on experience with data warehousing, data lakes, ETL/ELT processes, and modern data technologies like Snowflake, Databricks, and Apache Spark.
Technical proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, and Scala or Java is necessary. Familiarity with data integration tools like Azure Data Factory, Informatica, Apache Airflow, and Talend will be advantageous. A solid understanding of DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, Docker, and Kubernetes, is also important. Candidates should demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, including team mentoring, project estimation, and influencing without authority.
Responsibilities
Leading end-to-end delivery of enterprise data engineering projects, ensuring they meet scope, quality, and timeline requirements. Designing scalable, secure, and high-performance data architectures aligned with business needs. Providing technical guidance and support to a team of Data Engineers, conducting design reviews, code reviews, and troubleshooting. Driving the adoption of modern data engineering patterns and cloud-native solutions to ensure technological relevance and efficiency.
Managing a team of 10–15 engineers by allocating work, tracking progress, and fostering a high-performance culture. Overseeing project delivery, managing risks, dependencies, and change requests, and coordinating with cross-functional teams including Product Owners, Architects, QA, DevOps, and business stakeholders. Ensuring adherence to governance standards and continuous improvement practices. Leading Agile Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog grooming, daily stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives. Collaborating with Product Owners to prioritize work and track progress using Agile metrics such as velocity and burn-down charts.
Maintaining regular communication with senior management through status updates, project health reports, and risk mitigation strategies. Building strong relationships with stakeholders across business and technical domains, translating complex technical concepts into understandable language for diverse audiences. Ensuring the team adheres to data governance and compliance standards, while fostering innovation and continuous learning within the team.
