Role Description
The Associate Software Engineer is a full-time remote role responsible for supporting the design, development, testing, and maintenance of software solutions across BM Labs’ product and client portfolios. Day-to-day tasks include implementing back-end features, writing clean and efficient code, fixing bugs, and collaborating with senior engineers to improve system performance and reliability. The role involves participating in code reviews, contributing to technical documentation, and assisting in the integration of data and analytics components into applications. The Associate Software Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, deliver high-quality solutions, and support continuous improvement of development processes.
Required Skills
- Strong foundation in Computer Science concepts, including data structures, algorithms, and software design principles.
- Hands-on experience or academic exposure to Software Development and Programming, with proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., React, NodeJs, Java, C#, Python, JavaScript).
- Knowledge of Back-End Web Development, including APIs, databases, and server-side frameworks.
- Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and ability to apply OOP principles to real-world problems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Ability to write clean, maintainable code, follow version control practices (e.g., Git), and work within collaborative development workflows.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn new tools, frameworks, and technologies.
- Use AI coding tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or similar tools to improve development productivity.
- Test, debug, and optimize applications and automate repetitive business processes and internal workflows.
- Collaborate with business teams to understand requirements and convert them into working software.
- Effective communication skills and ability to work independently in a remote, distributed team environment.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, or BI and analytics solutions is an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications
- 0–2 years of experience (fresh graduates with strong projects are encouraged to apply).
- Strong personal, academic, or internship projects.
- Strong academic record in both Class 10 and Class 12 are preferred.
- Demonstrated interest in software development through projects, hackathons, GitHub contributions, or internships.
