We are a founder-led startup in growth mode, and we are looking for a technical co-builder — a CTO who is as excited about the mission as the technology.
The Opportunity
This is a founding-level CTO role for a builder who wants ownership — not just a title. You will work directly with the CEO to architect, build, and scale the OneHermes platform and AQUAN AI engine. You will set the technical vision, lead the engineering team, and translate business needs into elegant, scalable solutions that serve thousands of SMBs.

What You’ll Do
• Own the technical roadmap for the OneHermes platform — workforce, CRM, operations, financials, and the AQUAN AI layer.
.• Lead and grow the India-based engineering team; hire, mentor, and build a high-performance culture.
• Design and build LLM-powered features for AQUAN AI: auto-generated reports, role-based dashboards, document intelligence, early-warning systems, and predictive insights.
• Architect scalable, multi-tenant, cloud-native systems on AWS/Azure using Node.js, Angular, and MongoDB.
• Establish engineering best practices: CI/CD, code quality, security, and performance benchmarks.
• Collaborate closely with the CEO and product team to translate customer needs into technical solutions.
• Make build-vs-buy decisions, manage third-party integrations, and own the full technology stack.
• Represent technology in investor conversations, customer demos, and strategic partnerships.
• Drive rapid iteration while maintaining platform stability for live SMB customers.
Must-Have Qualifications:
• 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a technical leadership or CTO-level role
• Hands-on experience building LLM-powered applications — report generation, insight extraction, document intelligence, or AI-driven workflows using OpenAI, Anthropic, LangChain, or similar
• Strong full-stack proficiency: Node.js (Express/NestJS), Angular, MongoDB.
• Proven experience designing multi-tenant, cloud-native SaaS platforms on AWS or Azure.
• Experience with microservices architecture, RESTful APIs, and CI/CD pipelines
• Strong product instincts — ability to translate ambiguous business problems into clean technical solutions
• Entrepreneurial mindset: comfortable with ambiguity, motivated by equity and mission, not just salary
• Excellent English communication skills; able to engage both engineering teams and business stakeholders
• Based in India, with availability to overlap with US Central time for key meetings
Nice to Have:
• Experience in SMB SaaS, workforce management, home care, or field services software.
• Prior startup experience — you have built something from near-zero before.
• Familiarity with vector databases, embeddings, RAG pipelines, or AI agents.
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Redis, or event-driven architectures (RabbitMQ/Kafka.
• Background in data engineering or BI tooling for dashboards and analytics
