Company
Go10 Limited is a rapidly growing UK-based value-added distributor of consumer products. We work with established and emerging brands across multiple categories, supplying national retailers including Argos/Sainsbury’s, John Lewis, Very, Currys and Costco, alongside dropship fulfilment and online channels including Amazon and eBay.
Our technology platform supports order processing, ERP connectivity, retailer integrations, ecommerce operations, EDI, fulfilment and internal reporting. As the business scales, we are building a stronger engineering capability with clear ownership, reliable systems and robust operational processes.
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager / Platform Lead to build and lead a newly established remote engineering team and take ownership of the technical foundations of the Go10 platform.
This is a senior, hands-on leadership role combining engineering management, platform ownership and operational responsibility. You will inherit an established ecosystem of backend services, databases, infrastructure and retailer integrations, some of which is under-documented and currently dependent on individual knowledge.
Your initial focus will be to understand the platform, establish technical and operational control, document the estate, reduce key-person dependency and build a high-performing engineering team capable of supporting and developing the platform independently.
The platform includes .NET Core and Java services, PostgreSQL and SQL Server databases, ERP integrations, ecommerce marketplaces, retailer dropship connections and multiple EDI feeds. Infrastructure is primarily self-hosted on European virtual machines, with Cloudflare at the edge.
You will report directly to the Head of Digital Platforms in the UK and act as the senior technical and engineering leader for the remote team.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Leadership
- Recruit, onboard, mentor and manage engineers as the team grows.
- Establish clear team structures, responsibilities and engineering expectations.
- Lead performance management, career development and technical mentoring.
- Create a strong culture of ownership, documentation, collaboration and accountability.
- Run effective stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives and delivery reviews.
- Manage delivery priorities and balance roadmap work with operational support.
- Act as the primary technical escalation point for the UK business during agreed working hours.
- Communicate technical risks, trade-offs and delivery progress clearly to senior stakeholders.
Platform Ownership
- Own the platform across backend services, operational databases, integrations and infrastructure.
- Build a complete understanding of current architecture, data flows and system dependencies.
- Take responsibility for platform reliability, scalability, security and continuity.
- Lead the technical management of ERP, marketplace, retailer, fulfilment and EDI integrations.
- Improve resilience across APIs, webhooks, SFTP feeds, scheduled jobs and batch processes.
- Reduce single-person and single-system dependencies.
- Establish clear ownership for every production service and integration.
- Define technical direction in partnership with the Head of Digital Platforms.
Reliability and Operations
- Lead incident response and coordinate resolution of production issues.
- Establish incident management, escalation and post-incident review processes.
- Ensure backup, restore and disaster recovery procedures are documented and tested.
- Improve monitoring, logging, alerting and operational visibility.
- Establish capacity planning and infrastructure maintenance practices.
- Ensure production changes are controlled, tested, traceable and reversible.
- Maintain clear rollback procedures for critical systems and releases.
Documentation and Knowledge Transfer
- Audit and document all live services, APIs, databases, integrations and infrastructure.
- Produce operational runbooks for all critical systems.
- Maintain architecture diagrams, service inventories and complete data-flow maps.
- Lead structured knowledge transfer from existing UK engineering resources.
- Ensure documentation remains current and forms part of normal engineering delivery.
- Build sufficient team knowledge so the platform can operate without dependency on individual engineers.
Engineering Standards and Delivery
- Establish coding standards, review practices and Git-based workflows.
- Improve testing, release management and deployment discipline.
- Introduce appropriate technical governance without creating unnecessary process.
- Review architecture and identify technical debt, operational risk and scalability constraints.
- Develop a prioritised improvement roadmap.
- Promote effective use of AI-assisted development tools while maintaining engineering quality and review standards.
Required Experience
Leadership
- Demonstrable experience managing and developing an engineering team.
- Proven experience recruiting, onboarding, mentoring and performance-managing engineers.
- Experience owning engineering delivery across multiple systems or services.
- Experience leading distributed or remote teams across time zones.
- Strong examples of improving engineering standards, team performance and operational maturity.
- Excellent written English and the ability to produce clear technical documentation.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, including communication with non-technical leaders.
- A disciplined and methodical approach to incident management and production change.
- Confidence operating in environments where documentation is incomplete and systems must first be understood before being changed.
Engineering
- Strong backend engineering experience in Java, with sufficient knowledge of the other to lead a mixed technology environment.
- Deep relational database experience, ideally including PostgreSQL and SQL Server.
- Strong knowledge of schema design, query optimisation, migrations, transactions and data integrity.
- Experience designing, building and operating production integrations using REST APIs, webhooks, SFTP and scheduled batch processes.
- Experience operating production infrastructure, including Linux and self-hosted virtual machines.
- Experience with at least one major cloud platform.
- Strong Git, code review and release-management discipline.
- Experience diagnosing complex failures across applications, integrations, databases and infrastructure.
Preferred Experience
The following would be valuable but are not all required:

- Marketplace API experience, including Shopify, Amazon, Mirakl or similar.
- EDI experience using X12 or EDIFACT.
- Experience with production EDI platforms or managed integration providers.

- Experience modernising a legacy or under-documented platform.
- Experience building an engineering function within a growing business.
Working at Go10
- Fully remote within India.
- Direct access to the Head of Digital Platforms.
- Genuine influence over platform direction, team structure and engineering standards.
- High level of ownership across systems that are central to business operations.
- Collaborative, practical and engineering-led working environment.
- Core overlap with the UK team from 9:00am to 1:00pm UK time, typically 1:30pm to 5:30pm IST, subject to seasonal clock changes.
Compensation
₹38-48 lakh+ annual contract value, approximately £29,300-£37,000+, depending on experience and capability.
The final contract rate will reflect the contractor’s leadership experience, technical depth and track record of owning business-critical platforms.
This is a full-time, remote contractor engagement. The successful candidate will be responsible for their own taxes, insurance, statutory obligations and any other costs associated with operating as an independent contractor.
The contract will define working arrangements, notice periods, confidentiality, intellectual property ownership and agreed availability during core UK collaboration hours.
