About the Company
QuestW has been retained by a client — a multi-billion dollar global technology organisation, recognized worldwide in its field — to appoint a Director SRE & Product Engineering, based in Bangalore.
About the Role
This is a newly created leadership role, reporting directly to the global engineering head. It is a genuine build mandate: standing up Site Reliability Engineering and Product Engineering as a single, scaled organisation, and embedding reliability, automation, and engineering excellence by design. The person who takes this on becomes the senior-most engineering leader of its kind in India, with broad influence across the technology organisation.
Responsibilities
- Define and build a modern, automation-first SRE practice — reliability standards (SLIs/SLOs, error budgets), observability, incident management, and the elimination of operational toil
- Lead product-oriented engineering teams building and operating long-lived internal platforms and services
- Drive standardisation across CI/CD, deployment, and operational tooling
- Partner across cloud, infrastructure, security, and application leadership in a global, matrixed environment
- Attract, develop, and scale multiple teams through senior managers and technical leaders
Qualifications
- Of the total experience, atleast 10+ years in software engineering / SRE, with at least 5+ years leading managers and large engineering teams
- A track record of scaling mission-critical production systems in a large, genuinely complex, software-first environment
Required Skills
- A leader with genuine, modern SRE depth — automation- and engineering-led, not operations- or troubleshooting-led
- Real software / product-build capability across front-end, back-end, and CI/CD
- Exposure to working with complexity
Preferred Skills
- Open on industry. We welcome leaders from any complex, software-first technology or product environment, including those open to moving from a commercial/product-software background into an enterprise platform role.
