About The Company
Lonza Bioscience is a leading provider of innovative solutions and tools for life science researchers, supporting the development and testing of therapeutics from initial research stages to product release. Our extensive portfolio caters to a broad spectrum of modalities, including cell and gene therapies, recombinant proteins, vaccines, and injectable drugs. With a focus on primary human cell biology, we enable our customers to create more predictive models, thereby accelerating the path to investigational new drug (IND) approvals. Additionally, we serve as a trusted partner for critical raw materials and advanced technologies that enhance bioprocessing quality and efficiency. Our commitment to innovation, quality, and customer success drives us to power the performance of One Lonza and reinforce our position as a leader in the bioscience industry.
About The Role
The Senior Manager, Digital Commerce (Technical Product Owner) is a vital role within Lonza's bioscience division, primarily focused on managing the technical strategy and delivery of our digital commerce platform. This position is specifically scoped to bioscience operations and does not encompass CDMO activities. The role involves translating complex business and operational requirements into scalable technical solutions, overseeing business analysis activities, and ensuring high-quality execution across integrated systems. Acting as the technical product owner, the individual will collaborate closely with engineering, IT, and external partners to manage the product roadmap, backlog, and delivery of key integrations such as PunchOut and EDI that support B2B customer workflows. The role requires a balanced approach—strategically shaping platform evolution while also guiding requirements, prioritizing backlog items, and ensuring seamless end-to-end delivery. This position offers an exciting opportunity to influence digital commerce initiatives that are critical to our customer engagement and operational excellence.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical expertise, product management experience, and industry knowledge. Essential qualifications include proven experience as a Technical Product Owner or Senior Product Manager in enterprise platform environments, with a strong understanding of SAP Commerce Cloud (Hybris). Candidates should demonstrate a track record of owning product and integration roadmaps, making prioritization and trade-off decisions effectively. Exposure to ERP, middleware, or integration platforms such as SAP CPI or Mulesoft is highly desirable. Additional qualifications include prior hands-on experience as a Business Analyst, relevant Agile or Product Owner certifications, and familiarity with B2B integrations like PunchOut and EDI. Experience working in regulated industries such as life sciences or biotech is a plus, along with a solid understanding of commerce flows and system-to-system integrations. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external partners are essential.
Responsibilities
- Own and maintain the digital commerce product and integration roadmap, ensuring alignment with business priorities, customer needs, and technical dependencies across PunchOut, EDI, ERP, and commerce platforms.
- Continuously refine the roadmap and backlog based on business value, delivery insights, integration complexity, and stakeholder feedback, making informed trade-offs as necessary.
- Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders such as Sales, Customer Service, and Commercial Operations, and technical teams including Engineering, IT, and external partners, to ensure clear understanding and alignment on scope and priorities.
- Facilitate cross-functional discussions to gather requirements, clarify integration impacts, and manage dependencies, ensuring shared understanding across teams.
- Translate business objectives and operational workflows into detailed, actionable requirements and user stories, ensuring technical feasibility and readiness for end-to-end integration.
- Lead planning and delivery efforts for PunchOut and EDI initiatives, coordinating internal teams and external partners to ensure predictable, high-quality execution aligned with the roadmap.
- Provide regular updates to stakeholders regarding progress, risks, dependencies, and timelines, proactively managing expectations and escalations when needed.
- Manage and prioritize the product backlog, making strategic trade-offs based on business value, technical complexity, and integration impact.
- Participate in and lead Agile ceremonies including backlog grooming, sprint planning, demos, and retrospectives, supporting release planning and deployment readiness for integration-heavy projects.
- Oversee business analysis activities to ensure requirements are complete, testable, and aligned with technical capabilities, providing final approval on scope, prioritization, and acceptance criteria.
