About Us: We are a fast-growing medtech startup focused on creating innovative, human-centered medical devices that improve patient outcomes and enhance healthcare delivery. Our mission is to combine cutting-edge technology, ergonomic usability, and thoughtful design to bring meaningful solutions to the healthcare ecosystem.
Role Overview: As a Junior Industrial Design Intern, you will be part of our multidisciplinary R&D team, working directly under the guidance of the Design Manager and the CEO. This role is ideal for a recent B.Des. graduate with strong creative and problem-solving skills, who wants to gain hands-on experience in designing and developing medical devices in a fast-paced startup environment. You will contribute to concept generation, product design, prototyping, and user-centered research while ensuring compliance with medical device standards and usability guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
● Concept Development: Assist in brainstorming, sketching, and generating innovative product concepts aligned with clinical needs and user requirements.
● CAD Modeling & Visualization: Create 3D CAD models, digital renders, and visual presentations to communicate design intent effectively.
● Prototyping: Support rapid prototyping using in-house methods (3D printing, CNC, model-making) and work with vendors to refine functional mockups.
● User-Centered Research: Participate in user studies, ergonomic evaluations, and field observations to understand patient, doctor, and technician pain points.
● Design Documentation: Maintain detailed design reports, sketches, CAD files, and specifications for internal reviews and regulatory submissions.
● Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, clinicians, regulatory experts, and business teams to align design solutions with technical and market requirements.
● Material & Manufacturing Research: Explore materials, CMF (Color, Material, Finish), and manufacturing processes relevant to medical-grade products.
● Design for Usability & Safety: Assist in applying human factors, ergonomics, and safety standards to ensure devices are intuitive, safe, and comfortable to use.
● Presentation & Communication: Support preparation of design reviews, pitches, and documentation for internal stakeholders, investors, and clinical partners.
● Learning & Growth: Continuously upskill in medical device design standards (ISO 13485, IEC usability guidelines) while contributing fresh design perspectives.
