Job details:
The role
You own the AIOps managed services engagement end-to-end: the forward-deployed engineering team, the broader run organization it leverages, the operating model, the executive client relationship, and the commercial outcome — the year-over-year takeout that defines the deal. You lead across all disciplines: Build & Deploy, Operations, and Observability & SRE.
This is the role that makes a lean expert core leverage a large delivery footprint — and proves it. You set strategy, lead the leaders, own the economics, own the innovation operating model, and build the capability so the model stamps onto the next account.
About PwC AIOps
PwC’s AIOps runs the client’s operations with intelligence built in: we deploy PwC’s agentic platforms and automation accelerators into the client’s environment and operate them in production — taking cost out of the run while improving service quality, measured and sustained year over year. This is broader than the classic “AI for IT operations”; it is operating a workforce of agents and automations that do the work, with the engineering discipline to keep them reliable and to prove the value. Forward Deployed Engineers (FDEs) are embedded with the client — high-agency, ship-to-production engineers who own outcomes rather than tickets, sitting close to the work and building what is needed.
AIOps is delivered across three disciplines that work as one loop. Build & Deploy ships the work-doers — AI agents for judgment- and language-heavy tasks, and deterministic automation for high-volume, rules-based work; the two go hand in hand, chosen by whichever is the faster, safer path to takeout. Operations (AgentOps) keeps the deployed fleet trustworthy through evaluation, guardrails, drift detection, and incident response — what lets a lean core safely operate an ever-growing footprint. Observability & SRE instruments the estate to find the toil, cut the noise, and quantify the efficiency delivered. Build creates capability, AgentOps keeps it reliable, and Observability finds the next opportunity and proves the last.
Efficiency compounds because we run a flywheel, not a project: observe to locate toil and cost, build or automate it away, operate it reliably so it scales without adding heads, prove the takeout, and reinvest the freed capacity into the next opportunity — so value scales with the fleet, not headcount. Operate is not “keep the lights on”: a disciplined innovation cadence runs inside delivery — daily intake, value-based prioritization, rapid build, and measured results, governed jointly with the client — making the operate layer the client’s continuous-improvement and step-change engine. Every role contributes to, and is measured against, that year-over-year takeout.
What you’ll do
Engagement ownership
- Own the engagement roadmap, delivery, quality, and the commercial result — margin and the contracted takeout curve.
- Set the technical and delivery strategy across all three disciplines; make the build/run/automate trade-offs that protect economics.
- Own the operating model that lets a small expert core leverage a large run organization.
Client leadership
- Own the executive client relationship; be the trusted advisor on their AIOps transformation.
- Own and tell the value story — instrument, quantify, and defend the efficiency delivered year over year.
Innovation & continuous improvement
- Own the operate-level innovation engine — the intake → prioritize → build → measure cadence — so the engagement delivers step-change, not just steady-state.
- Chair, with the client, the innovation council / value-realization governance that prioritizes the backlog and approves agent autonomy gates.
Leading leaders
- Lead the Managers across Build, Operations, and Observability; coach them as leaders.
- Build the capability: recruit, develop, and retain FDE talent; codify the pod model for reuse.
Growth
- Identify expansion; shape proposals and SOWs; contribute to the broader AI Managed Services go-to-market.
- Contribute thought leadership that builds the practice’s reputation.
Risk & governance
- Own risk, quality, and independence for the engagement within PwC’s framework — including data handling and the gated-autonomy controls that keep production safe in regulated environments.
What you’ll bring
- 12+ years across software/AI engineering and delivery, with significant time leading multi-team or multi-workstream organizations.
- Deep technical credibility (agents, automation, observability) combined with proven delivery leadership.
- Experience owning client relationships and commercial outcomes in consulting, managed services, or comparable client delivery.
- Strong people leadership: building, coaching, and retaining high-performing engineering teams.
- Executive communication — able to move between a CIO conversation and an architecture review.
- Commercial fluency: P&L/margin, estimation, scoping, and value articulation.
Nice to have
- Prior managed or professional services leadership.
- Experience standing up a new delivery capability; published thought leadership.
Leadership profile — what sets this level apart
- Sets vision and operating model, not just delivery.
- Develops other leaders and builds bench.
- Owns the room with client executives and the PwC partnership.
- Balances delivery, economics, talent, and risk simultaneously.
What success looks like (first 6–12 months)
- The engagement is delivering to its takeout curve, on margin.
- The leadership tier is strong and growing.
- The client sees PwC as the partner for their AIOps transformation.
- The pod model is documented and ready to replicate.
You’ll thrive here if you want to own an engagement as a business — its strategy, its leaders, its economics, and its client — and build something repeatable that outlasts the deal.
