Industries: IT Services and IT Consulting
Job details:
Function: Technology / Solutions & Engineering
Reports to: Chief Technology Officer / Managing Director
Designation: Flexible — commensurate with candidate profile (Designation will be aligned to the selected candidate's experience and standing —Assistant Vice President or Vice President)
Location: [Bangalore] — with travel to client sites and project locations
Experience: 12–18 years in AV systems integration and ICT infrastructure, including 4+ years leading design & delivery teams
The Head of Technology owns the technical authority for the organisation's AV and ICT portfolio: solution design, engineering standards, technology partnerships, and delivery quality across projects. The role bridges pre-sales and execution — shaping winnable, buildable solutions at bid stage, then ensuring the design survives contact with site conditions, budget, and the client's IT environment.
Solution Design & Pre-Sales
• Own technical solutioning for enterprise AV and ICT bids: conference and meeting rooms, boardrooms, auditoria, control rooms, command centres, digital signage, and unified communications.
• Review and approve system architecture, schematics, signal flow diagrams, rack elevations, BOQs, and cost estimates before submission.
• Interpret client RFPs, consultant specifications, and tender documents; identify technical risk, scope gaps, and value-engineering opportunities.
• Present designs to clients, consultants, and architects; defend technical choices in technical evaluation meetings.
Technology Strategy & Standards
• Define the organisation's technology stack and preferred OEM matrix across AV, ELV, and network domains.
• Establish and maintain engineering standards: design templates, drawing conventions, programming and commissioning standards, testing and handover protocols.
• Evaluate emerging technology — AV-over-IP, cloud-managed UC platforms, IoT and workplace analytics, AI-assisted meeting systems — and set the adoption roadmap.
Delivery Oversight
• Provide technical governance across the project portfolio; resolve escalated site issues, integration failures, and design conflicts.
• Own quality of commissioning, testing, and as-built documentation; ensure handover meets contractual and performance criteria.
• Drive on-time, on-margin delivery in partnership with project management and operations.
Networking & ICT Integration
• Ensure AV systems integrate cleanly with enterprise IT: VLAN design, QoS, multicast, PoE budgeting, bandwidth planning, and security hardening.
• Own the ICT scope where in play — structured cabling, data centre, passive infrastructure, wireless, and ELV systems (CCTV, access control, PA/VA, BMS interfaces).
• Interface with client IT and security teams on network readiness, cybersecurity requirements, and compliance sign-offs.
People & Capability
• Lead and grow the design, programming, and commissioning engineering teams; own hiring, competency mapping, and certification planning.
• Run internal technical training and mentoring; build bench strength in Crestron, Q-SYS, Dante, and networking disciplines.
Partnerships & Commercials
• Manage OEM and distributor relationships — certification levels, pricing tiers, demo support, escalation paths, and roadmap access.
• Support margin improvement through design standardisation, alternate-brand strategies, and reduction of rework and site returns.
• Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Electrical, Communications, or Computer Engineering.
• 12–18 years in AV systems integration / ICT infrastructure, with a portfolio of large enterprise, hospitality, education, or government projects.
• Deep hands-on knowledge of: Crestron, Extron, Q-SYS / Biamp, Shure / Sennheiser, Barco, Christie, LG / Samsung display and LED technologies.
• Strong command of Dante, AES67, AV-over-IP (SDVoE, NDI, NMOS), HDBaseT, and video wall / LED processing.
• Unified communications platforms — Microsoft Teams Rooms, Google Meet, Zoom Rooms, Cisco Webex — including native room certification requirements.
• Networking competence at CCNA level or equivalent: switching, VLANs, routing basics, multicast, QoS.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD / Revit, D-Tools or equivalent estimation tools, and Visio.
• Proven pre-sales and client-facing experience with consultants, PMCs, and enterprise IT stakeholders.
• AVIXA CTS-D and/or CTS-I certification; RCDD, CCNP, OEM master-level certifications (Crestron, Extron, Kramer, Lightware, Q-SYS, Biamp, Dante Level 3 etc.)
• Experience with control-system programming or oversight of programming teams.
• Exposure to command-and-control, broadcast, or mission-critical control room environments.
• Familiarity with ELV and building systems integration, and with relevant local standards and codes.
- SUCCESS MEASURES (FIRST 12 MONTHS)
• Improved bid win rate and estimation accuracy through standardised design and BOQ templates.
• Reduction in project rework, site escalations, and post-handover snag volume.
• Design margin protected or improved via OEM strategy and value engineering.
• Certified, appropriately staffed engineering team with a documented competency and training plan.
• Zero major handover disputes attributable to design or commissioning quality.
