About the Role:
Regilient AI is building the world's first agentic regulatory compliance platform — software that autonomously monitors regulations, engages suppliers, processes compliance data, and generates declarations without manual intervention. As our Senior AI Lead Engineer, you will architect and own the AI engineering layer of this platform. You will lead a team of 1 junior AI engineer and 4 AI interns, reporting directly to the Director of Engineering and working closely with the CTO on the agentic product roadmap. This is a founding AI role — you will set the architecture, standards, and culture for everything AI at Regilient.
What You'll Own:
- Architect the agentic AI layer of the Regilient platform — multi-agent orchestration, LLM pipelines, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) for regulatory content
- Design and ship the supplier engagement agent — automated outreach, data collection, and response parsing at scale across 30,000+ suppliers
- Build the regulatory change monitoring agent — ingesting, classifying, and alerting on regulatory updates across 20+ global frameworks
- Own AI model selection, evaluation, fine-tuning strategy, and cost optimisation across the platform
- Define AI engineering standards — prompt engineering, evals framework, model versioning, and safety guardrails
- Lead, mentor, and grow the AI engineering team (1 junior AI engineer + 4 AI interns) — set project scopes, review work, and build their craft
- Collaborate with the Product Manager and CTO to translate the agentic roadmap into engineering milestones
- Establish observability for AI systems — latency, accuracy, hallucination rates, and cost per inference
Requirements:
Must Have:
- 5+ years of software engineering; 2+ years in applied AI/ML in production
- Hands-on LLM engineering — OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or open-source models in production
- Agentic AI frameworks — LangChain, LlamaIndex, AutoGen, CrewAI, or equivalent
- RAG pipeline design and implementation at scale
- Python proficiency (FastAPI or similar); comfort with async and distributed systems
- Prompt engineering and LLM evaluation methodology
- Experience leading or mentoring engineers
Nice to Have:
- Domain experience in compliance, legal tech, or regulatory data
- Fine-tuning experience (LoRA, RLHF, or instruction tuning)
- Vector database expertise (Pinecone, Weaviate, pgvector)
- Multi-modal AI (document parsing, OCR, structured extraction)
- AI safety and guardrails engineering
- MLOps — model versioning, A/B testing, deployment pipelines
- Prior founding-team or 0-to-1 AI product experience
What Success Looks Like (First 90 Days):
- AI engineering architecture document published and reviewed with CTO and Director of Engineering
- Evals framework defined and running on at least one production AI feature
- Intern sprint scopes defined — each intern has a clear agentic AI prototype to ship
- First agentic supplier engagement feature shipped to staging
- LLM cost tracking dashboard live — inference cost per feature visible to the team
What We Offer:
- Founding AI role — you set the architecture, culture, and standards for AI at Regilient
- Direct collaboration with the CTO and Director of Engineering on product strategy
- A genuinely novel technical problem — agentic compliance AI is an unsolved space
- Competitive salary, ESOPs, and flexible working arrangements
- A team and mission that will look very compelling on your career story
