Job details:
We are looking for someone with 4+ years of hands-on development experience, preferably 5–8 years, with strong expertise in backend development, SaaS architecture, web application development, mobile application development, database design, APIs, cloud deployment, product thinking, and team leadership.
This is an equity-based early-stage role with no fixed salary at the current stage. The role will begin with a 90-day validation period before moving into a formal Technical Co-Founder / CTO structure.
About MAVR
MAVR is building a modern fitness ecosystem for gyms, trainers, and athletes.
We are starting with MAVR Performance, our compression wear line, to enter the fitness market, build brand trust, create community, and understand real users. Alongside this, we are validating and building MAVR’s SaaS platform for gym owners, trainers, and athletes.
Our long-term vision is to build the operating system for the fitness industry — helping gyms manage operations, trainers build professional identity, and athletes track their fitness journey with structure.
MAVR is currently looking for a strong technical partner who can help build the SaaS foundation from the ground up.
Role Overview
We are looking for a Technical Co-Founder / CTO Track who can lead the technology side of MAVR.
This is not just a coding role.
We need someone who understands backend systems, SaaS architecture, product thinking, team leadership, startup execution, scalability, data security, and how technology can become a real business.
The ideal person should be able to guide developers, build core systems, make technical decisions, and work closely with the founder to turn MAVR’s SaaS vision into a practical, scalable product.
You should be comfortable building from zero, working with limited resources, making smart technical decisions, and moving fast without breaking the foundation.
What You Will Work On
You will lead the technical direction for MAVR’s SaaS ecosystem, including:
1. MAVR Business
A web-based gym management and growth dashboard for gym owners.
Core areas may include:
- Member management
- Attendance tracking
- Membership renewals
- Payment tracking
- Lead management
- Trainer management
- Reports and analytics
- Gym owner dashboard
- Staff access and permissions
2. MAVR PRO
A trainer-focused platform for professional identity, client management, progress tracking, portfolios, and future opportunities.
3. MAVR Athlete
A mobile-first experience for athletes and gym members to track workouts, diet, progress, membership, and trainer communication.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Architecture
- Define the complete SaaS architecture for MAVR.
- Decide the right technology stack.
- Design scalable backend systems.
- Plan database structure, APIs, authentication, and user-role permissions.
- Build systems that can support gym owners, staff, trainers, athletes, and MAVR admin.
Backend & Product Development
- Build or lead the development of backend systems.
- Create secure and scalable APIs.
- Work on database design and optimization.
- Handle user management, role-based access, payments, attendance, renewals, CRM, and reporting modules.
- Make sure the product is reliable, maintainable, and ready for future mobile app integration.
SaaS MVP Development
- Convert MAVR’s SaaS vision into a realistic MVP.
- Identify what should be built now and what should wait.
- Avoid unnecessary overbuilding.
- Build a product that gym owners can understand and use easily.
- Create a working prototype/MVP that can be tested with real gyms.
Team Leadership
- Guide and manage existing developers.
- Review code quality.
- Assign technical tasks.
- Create development timelines.
- Maintain proper documentation.
- Build a clean GitHub/repository workflow.
- Make sure developers are working in the right direction.
Product & Business Thinking
- Work closely with the founder on product strategy.
- Understand gym owner, trainer, and athlete problems.
- Help convert market research into product features.
- Think not only like a developer, but like a startup builder.
- Help MAVR build a SaaS product that people can actually use and pay for.
Security & Data Responsibility
- Ensure proper handling of user data.
- Plan secure authentication and access control.
- Protect business, member, payment, and personal information.
- Maintain clean backend structure and avoid risky shortcuts.
Required Skills
We are looking for someone with strong experience in:
- Backend development
- SaaS architecture
- Database design
- REST APIs / API architecture
- Authentication and authorization
- Role-based access control
- Cloud deployment
- Server management
- Scalable system design
- GitHub and version control

Preferred Tech Knowledge
You may have experience with any strong modern stack such as:

- React Native / Flutter
- AWS / GCP / Azure / DigitalOcean
- Firebase / Supabase
- Docker
- Redis
- Payment gateways
- Analytics tools
- AI/automation integrations
The exact stack is flexible. What matters most is your ability to choose the right stack for MAVR’s stage and build it properly.
The candidate must be comfortable working across both web app and mobile app ecosystems
What We Expect From You
You should be able to:
- Think from first principles.
- Build systems from zero.
- Understand both technology and business.
- Lead developers with clarity.
- Communicate clearly with a non-technical founder.
- Take ownership of the product.
- Say no to unnecessary features.
- Build fast but not carelessly.
- Think long-term about scalability.
- Stay committed through uncertainty.
Who This Role Is For
This role is for someone who wants to be part of building a startup from an early stage.
You may be a good fit if:
- You have strong technical experience.
- You want to build a real SaaS product.
- You understand that early-stage startups require ownership.
- You are interested in fitness, SaaS, marketplaces, CRM, business tools, or operating systems.
- You want to grow into a CTO or Technical Co-Founder role.
- You can work with a small team and create structure from chaos.
- You care about building something meaningful, not just completing assigned tickets.
Who This Role Is Not For
This role is not for someone who:
- Only wants a fixed salary role.
- Only knows basic frontend work.
- Cannot lead backend architecture.
- Needs every instruction spoon-fed.
- Wants a title but not responsibility.
- Cannot work in an early-stage startup environment.
- Does not understand ownership, speed, and accountability.
- Says yes to every feature without thinking about business value.

Equity will not be given casually or immediately. It will be based on:
- Technical capability
- Ownership
- Execution
- Long-term commitment
- MVP delivery
- Team leadership
- Alignment with MAVR’s vision
The final structure will be discussed after the initial validation period and will be handled through proper legal agreements, vesting, IP ownership, and founder-level responsibility.
