Job Title: Design Convergence Lead (Automotive)

Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Design Convergence Lead with strong expertise in Automotive Body Engineering, GD&T, Vehicle Exterior & Interior Systems, and Product Development. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in ensuring dimensional quality, design convergence, manufacturing feasibility, and supplier coordination from the initial design stage through vehicle launch.
This opportunity is ideal for professionals with hands-on experience in Vehicle Exterior, Interior, or Chassis systems, who possess strong technical knowledge in geometric dimensioning, tolerance management, stack-up analysis, and automotive product development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead design convergence activities for Exterior, Interior, and Chassis systems throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Define and validate datum schemes for automotive components.
- Capture aesthetic and functional requirements within engineering drawings and CAD models.
- Coordinate with suppliers on GD&T implementation to achieve required Gap & Flush targets.
- Review and approve supplier GD&T reports and inspection plans.
- Perform and validate tolerance stack-up studies (RSS/VSA) and recommend engineering improvements.
- Drive convergence between design, manufacturing, assembly, and quality requirements.
- Review and approve gauge concepts and measurement strategies.
- Analyze dimensional measurement data and support corrective actions.
- Support tooling sign-off, tolerance concessions, PPAP approvals, and vehicle launch activities.
- Resolve manufacturing and plant issues during prototype and production builds.
- Ensure compliance with automotive design standards and best practices.
- Document lessons learned and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills
- 7–11 years of experience in Automotive Product Development.
- Hands-on experience with Vehicle Exterior, Interior Trim, or Chassis components.
- Strong knowledge of ASME/ISO GD&T standards.
- Experience with NX or CATIA.
- Hands-on experience with Teamcenter or other PLM applications.
- Experience performing RSS Stack-up Analysis.
- Good understanding of Gap & Flush requirements.
- Knowledge of Gauge & Fixture concepts.
- Experience with CMM measurements and part inspection methods.
- Knowledge of plastic components and manufacturing processes.
- Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and dimensional data analysis.
- Experience supporting vehicle launch activities.
- Strong problem-solving, supplier coordination, and issue resolution skills.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and convergence skills.
