Technical Architect

Type: Full-time | 5 Days a Week

Job Description:
About BC
BCis an AI-native finance operations platform that automates Record-to-Report (R2R), Order-to-Cash (O2C), and Procure-to-Pay (P2P) on a single unified data spine — so finance teams close faster, reconcile at scale, and run on real-time, trustworthy numbers. We exist to bring finance into its next age of tooling, and eventually make it autonomous.
The Role
You will sit at the intersection of engineering and client success — embedded with customers to understand their data problems deeply, then design and ship the infrastructure to solve them. This is not a support role. You''ll architect pipelines, own technical decisions on-site, and translate ambiguous business requirements into working systems. You''ll make calls on what gets built custom versus what gets pushed back into the platform, and feed those insights directly to the product team. The role works closely with Implementation and Product to assess platform gaps, and with clients from pre-sales through go-live. Expect equal parts terminal, whiteboard, and client call.
Key Responsibilities
- Client Data Engineering: Embed with enterprise clients to scope, design, and deliver data engineering solutions end-to-end.
- Pipeline Infrastructure: Build and maintain production-grade data pipelines — batch and streaming — on Data warehousing and distributed infrastructure.
- Workflow Orchestration: Configure and extend workflow orchestration using Bluecopa''s native constructs to model complex client automation requirements.
- Technical Design: Translate SOW and business requirements into detailed technical designs and implementation plans.
- Strategic Decisions: Make strategic decisions on what should be a core platform feature vs. a custom implementation.
- Feedback Loop: Interface with Implementation Support to identify platform gaps and enhancement opportunities.
- Client Engagement: Lead technical discussions with enterprise clients during pre-sales and implementation phases.
- Frontend Development: Design scalable frontend interfaces that surface data clearly for finance and ops stakeholders.
- Internal Contributions: Contribute to internal tooling and participate in architecture reviews.
- Customer Voice: Act as the technical voice of the customer — document patterns, pain points, and product gaps.
- Security & Compliance Awareness: Factor data security and access control requirements into technical designs — including PII handling, encryption standards, and IAM policies — and engage credibly with customer InfoSec teams during deployment.
Required Qualifications Skills :
- BigQuery: Familiarity with BigQuery — query optimisation, schema design, partitioning, and cost management.
- Distributed Systems: Solid understanding of distributed systems fundamentals — consistency, fault tolerance, scalability patterns.
- Orchestration Engines: Conceptual familiarity with workflow engines (Temporal, Argo, Airflow, or similar) — understanding of how durable execution, retries, and DAG-based orchestration work in production.
- Core Languages: Command of programming skills in Python and SQL.
- Cloud & Infrastructure: Experience with cloud platforms (GCP or AWS) and container-based deployments (Kubernetes).
- Frontend Stack: Strong familiarity with React and TypeScript for building production interfaces.
- API Integration: Familiarity with REST and GraphQL API integration patterns.
- UI Construction: Ability to translate product and design requirements into clean, maintainable UI components.
- Infrastructure Provisioning: Hands-on experience deploying applications on cloud infrastructure (GCP or AWS) — comfortable with Kubernetes, container orchestration, and environment configuration. Able to work alongside customer IT and infra teams to align on network topology, IAM policies, and deployment constraints without needing a dedicated infra engineer in the room.
- Infrastructure Setup & Integration: Familiarity with end-to-end provisioning of platform deployments within customer environments — including environment setup, resource sizing, network configuration, and handoff readiness. Experience coordinating with customer infra and DevOps teams on access controls, security policies, and cloud tenancy constraints is a plus.
- Data Security Fundamentals: Working knowledge of IAM constructs, encryption standards, and secure handling of sensitive financial data — able to map platform capabilities to customer compliance requirements such as SOC 2 or SOX ITGC controls.
Client Alignment & Product Thinking :
- Ambiguity Management: Comfort with ambiguity — ability to drive technical clarity fromloosely defined requirements.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication — able to navigate a CTOand a data analyst in the same conversation.
- Product Instinct: Thinks about UX, edge cases, and long-term maintainability, not justtask completion.
- Embedded Engineering: Experience working directly with enterprise clients or in a forward-deployed / embedded engineering context.
Nice to Have
- Experience in a startup or fast-paced consulting / professional services environment.
- Exposure to LLM tooling or AI-native product development.
- Familiarity with data contracts and schema registries.
- Prior experience as a solutions engineer or technical account manager.
- Background in fintech or enterprise SaaS platforms.
- Experience navigating enterprise IT governance — working with customer security, infra, or platform teams to get production deployments across the line.
- Familiarity with enterprise security review processes — including vendor security questionnaires (VSQs) and navigating customer InfoSec approval workflows.
