Position: Vice President – Technology | Base Location: Mumbai
We are looking for a technology leader who can own and scale a product vertical, lead a high-performing engineering team, and bring a long-term architectural view to how we build insurance infrastructure. This role reports to the co-founders.
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Ownership
- Own end-to-end engineering delivery for a defined product vertical (determined at onboarding based on fit), covering architecture, development, QA, and release
- Lead and grow a team of ~15 engineers — setting technical direction, raising the bar on code quality, and building a culture of ownership and accountability
- Define and enforce engineering standards: system design, API contracts, code review practices, test coverage, and deployment hygiene
- Drive architectural decisions with a view to scalability, modularity, and cross-platform reuse across ValuEnable's product portfolio
AI-First Development
- Own the adoption of AI tooling across the engineering function — including developer productivity tools (GitHub Copilot etc.) and agentic development workflows
- Lead the technical build of AI-powered product features within the platform — including conversational AI, intelligent orchestration, and automation modules
- Evaluate and integrate emerging AI/ML capabilities into the product roadmap in partnership with product management
Product Roadmap Co-Ownership
- Hold a formal seat at the product prioritisation table — co-owning roadmap decisions with Product Managers
- Bring a long-term platform view to roadmap discussions: identify opportunities for cross-product reuse, flag technical debt that creates future risk, and push back where short-term decisions compromise architecture
- Translate business goals into phased technical delivery plans with realistic timelines and resource requirements
Team Building & Engineering Culture
- Partner with HR and co-founders on engineering hiring — define profiles, run technical assessments, and make calls on seniority and fit
- Build engineering capability over time: mentoring, structured learning, and identifying high-potential talent within the team
- Establish engineering processes that support a fast-moving, multi-product environment without creating coordination overhead
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with parallel engineering leadership, product managers, and the pre-sales team to ensure technical coherence across the platform
- Participate in client-facing discussions where deep technical context is required — solution architecture, integration design, and platform capability conversations

Eligibility
- 8+ years in software development, with at least 5 years in engineering leadership roles managing teams of 10+
- Strong foundation in agile delivery, system architecture, API design, and integration patterns
- Proficiency in one or more of: React, Node.js, Express.js, MySQL or equivalent — and the ability to hold a technical conversation at depth with your team
- Experience building enterprise software; BFSI or insurtech exposure is a meaningful advantage
- Demonstrated experience with AI tooling — either in developer productivity (Copilot, Claude) or AI-powered product features
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent; relevant certifications (AWS Solutions Architect, Azure, CISM, PMP) are a plus
- Experience with cloud-based infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and version control (Git or equivalent)
- Track record of owning delivery end-to-end — not just managing people, but being accountable for outcomes
