We are dedicated to powering the performance of One Lonza, uniting our global teams to deliver exceptional value to our customers and partners.
About The Role
The Senior Manager, Digital Commerce (Technical Product Owner) at Lonza Bioscience plays a pivotal role in managing and executing the technical strategy for our digital commerce platform, with a focus on enterprise integrations such as PunchOut and EDI. This position is exclusively dedicated to bioscience-specific operations and does not encompass CDMO activities. The role involves translating complex business and operational needs into scalable technical solutions, overseeing business analysis, and ensuring the seamless execution of integrated systems. Acting as the technical product owner, you will collaborate closely with engineering, IT, and external partners to develop and maintain the product roadmap, prioritize backlog items, and deliver high-quality integrations that support B2B customer workflows. This role requires a strategic mindset to shape the platform's evolution and a hands-on approach to guide requirements, manage dependencies, and oversee end-to-end delivery. The Senior Manager will serve as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring alignment and clarity across all project phases.
Qualifications
To succeed in this role, candidates should possess a strong background in enterprise platform management, particularly within the life sciences or regulated industries. Essential qualifications include prior experience as a Technical Product Owner or Senior Product Manager, with proven ownership of product and integration roadmaps. Expertise in SAP Commerce Cloud (Hybris) is required, along with a solid understanding of B2B integrations such as PunchOut and EDI. Familiarity with ERP systems, middleware, and integration platforms like SAP CPI or Mulesoft is highly desirable. Candidates with hands-on experience as a Business Analyst and certifications in Product Ownership or Agile methodologies will have an advantage. A comprehensive understanding of end-to-end commerce flows, system-to-system integrations, and Agile delivery practices is necessary. Excellent communication skills, stakeholder management, and the ability to translate business needs into technical requirements are critical for success in this role.
Responsibilities
- Own and continuously refine the digital commerce product and integration roadmap, ensuring alignment with business priorities, customer needs, and technical dependencies across PunchOut, EDI, ERP, and commerce platforms.
- Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders (Sales, Customer Service, Commercial Operations) and technical teams (Engineering, IT, External Partners) to facilitate clear communication, shared understanding, and aligned priorities.
- Gather requirements through cross-functional discussions, translate operational workflows into actionable user stories, and ensure technical feasibility and integration readiness.
- Lead planning and execution of PunchOut and EDI initiatives, coordinating efforts across internal teams and external partners to ensure timely and high-quality delivery.
- Provide regular updates to stakeholders regarding project progress, risks, dependencies, and timelines, managing expectations proactively.
- Manage and prioritize the product backlog, making informed trade-offs based on business value, technical complexity, and impact on integrations.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies such as backlog grooming, sprint planning, demos, and retrospectives to foster continuous improvement.
- Support release planning and deployment activities, ensuring readiness for integration-heavy releases.
- Oversee and guide business analysis activities, ensuring requirements are complete, testable, and aligned with technical capabilities.
- Ensure best practices in documentation, process flows, and integration requirements are maintained across projects.
