Position Summary:
The General Manager – IT will be responsible for defining and driving the organization's technology strategy, ensuring robust, secure, and scalable IT infrastructure and systems across all manufacturing plants, corporate offices, and international operations. The role requires a hands-on leader who can align IT investments with business priorities — manufacturing efficiency, ERP-driven operations, cybersecurity, and digital transformation — while managing a lean, high-performing IT team.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategy & Leadership
- Define and execute the enterprise-wide IT strategy and roadmap aligned with Karamtara's manufacturing, sales, and export growth objectives.
- Serve as a key member of the leadership team, advising on technology-enabled business improvement and digital transformation initiatives.
- Build, lead, and mentor a multi-site IT team covering infrastructure, applications, and support functions.
ERP & Business Applications
- Own the ERP ecosystem (SAP S4 HANA AND ABOVE) across all plants — implementation, upgrades, customization, and support.
- Drive standardization of business processes across manufacturing units through system integration.
- Evaluate and implement MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems), CRM, and other plant-level digital tools to improve production visibility and reporting.
- Should be able to implement & drive the entire business operation using ARTIFICIAL INTELLEGENCE
Infrastructure & Network
- Oversee IT infrastructure across 15+ manufacturing facilities and corporate office — servers, networks, data centres, cloud infrastructure, and end-user computing.
- Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning across all sites.
- Manage vendor relationships for hardware, software, telecom, and managed services.
Cybersecurity & Compliance
- Establish and enforce IT security policies, data governance, and access controls across the organization.
- Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations and industry standards.
- Lead incident response planning and periodic security audits / VAPT exercises.
Budgeting & Vendor Management
- Prepare and manage the annual IT budget, ensuring cost-effective technology investments and measurable ROI.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with software vendors, system integrators, and telecom/cloud providers.
International & Cross-Functional Support
- Support IT integration and systems standardization for Karamtara USA Inc. and other international operations.
- Partner with Finance, Operations, Sales, and HR to identify automation and digitization opportunities across functions.
Candidate Requirements:
Education
- B.E./B.Tech / M.Tech in Computer Science, IT, or a related field; MBA or PGDM preferred.
Experience
- (15–20) + years of progressive IT leadership experience, with at least 5 years in a AGM / DGM / General Manager / Head of IT capacity.
- Prior experience in a multi-plant manufacturing environment in multiple locations is strongly preferred (steel, engineering, industrial, or process manufacturing).
- Proven track record of ERP implementation/ownership (SAP preferred) across multi-location manufacturing setups.
- Experience supporting international/export-oriented businesses is a plus.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems, MES, network infrastructure, cloud platforms (Azure/AWS), and cybersecurity frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to manage IT budgets and vendor contracts at scale.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills to work with plant heads, business leaders, and promoters.
- Ability to travel to plant locations as required.
