Role Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Oracle PL/SQL Developer with 6-12 years of hands-on development experience in Oracle database technologies. The ideal candidate should possess deep expertise in PL/SQL programming, advanced database development, performance tuning, and optimization techniques, and be capable of independently owning application modules from requirements gathering through deployment and support.
The candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and maintaining complex database solutions while ensuring high performance, scalability, and reliability of enterprise applications.
- Design, develop, test, and maintain complex Oracle PL/SQL programs, packages, procedures, functions, triggers, and views.
- Independently handle complete module ownership, including requirement analysis, solution design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, functional teams, and architects to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Develop and optimize SQL queries for large-volume transactional systems.
- Perform database performance tuning and troubleshooting to improve application efficiency.
- Ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and database design principles.
- Conduct code reviews and mentor junior developers.
- Analyze and resolve production issues, performance bottlenecks, and data-related challenges.
- Support release management, deployment activities, and post-production validation.
- Participate in system enhancement initiatives and continuous process improvements.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, design documents, and support artifacts.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Core & Advanced PL/SQL: Deep knowledge of Packages, Stored Procedures, Functions, Triggers, Views, Ref Cursors, Pipeline Functions, Partitioning concepts, Materialized Views, Scheduler Jobs and DBMS_SCHEDULER.
- Performance Optimization: Query optimization and SQL tuning, Execution Plan analysis, Explain Plan and AWR report interpretation, Index optimization strategies, Table partitioning and performance enhancement techniques, Performance troubleshooting for large-volume databases, Database profiling and bottleneck analysis.
- Modern Oracle Features: Hands-on experience handling JSON/XML data formats directly within Oracle SQL/PLSQL, as well as using modern analytical/window functions.
- ETL & Data Processing: Expertise in bulk data loading techniques, cursor management, exception handling frameworks, and transaction control (AUTONOMOUS_TRANSACTION, Savepoints).
- Tools: Proficiency with Oracle SQL Developer, TOAD, or PL/SQL Developer, along with Git or similar version control systems.
- Retail/E-commerce experience preferred
Preferred / Good-to-Have Skills:
- Familiarity with Unix/Linux shell scripting for database batch job automation.
- Experience interfacing Oracle databases with modern web frameworks or API gateways (e.g., ORDS, Nginx reverse proxies, or SSO integrations).
