Lead Frontend Engineer – React, TypeScript & Full-Stack Product ExperienceCompany: KAVIA AI
Location: India — Remote
Type: Full-time
Experience: 3-6 years
Compensation: based on experience and demonstrated product ownership up to 20LPA
About KAVIA AIKAVIA AI is an enterprise software company building a production AI-native platform used today by teams working on complex, large-scale software systems.
We are creating an AI-native workflow and reasoning layer for the entire software development lifecycle—from requirements and architecture to code generation, testing, CI/CD, and long-term software evolution.
Unlike point tools or coding copilots, KAVIA is designed to understand, reason about, and operate on entire software systems over time. The platform helps engineering teams move faster while maintaining quality, traceability, security, and control.
At the core of the platform are:
- Agent-based orchestration systems that plan, execute, and validate work across the software development lifecycle
- Enterprise knowledge graphs that represent code, architecture, requirements, workflows, and decisions
- Full lifecycle traceability that helps teams understand why software exists and how it evolves
- AI-powered workflows that accelerate engineering, modernization, testing, and documentation
KAVIA is already deployed in production environments and used by enterprise customers. As our platform and customer footprint grow, we are investing in making KAVIA’s capabilities easier to discover, understand, trust, and use.
The RoleThis is a hands-on frontend engineering and product-experience leadership role on an existing production AI platform.
As Lead Frontend Engineer, you will own the technical quality and continued evolution of KAVIA’s customer-facing product experience. You will work closely with the founding team, product leadership, backend and full-stack engineers, Field Deployment Engineers, and our UI/UX design contractor.
You will lead frontend development while helping us understand how customers use the product, where they encounter friction, and how we can improve usability, adoption, and successful task completion.
This is not a people-manager-only role, nor is it a role focused solely on translating completed designs into React components. We are looking for an engineer who combines strong frontend architecture with product judgment, UX sensitivity, customer empathy, and data-informed decision-making.
What You’ll DoLead and Evolve the Frontend Platform- Lead the development of KAVIA’s React and TypeScript-based frontend
- Own important frontend capabilities from design and technical planning through deployment and production support
- Improve frontend architecture, component reuse, maintainability, performance, and scalability
- Establish frontend coding, testing, review, accessibility, and release standards
- Help evolve a consistent design system and reusable component library
- Refactor and harden existing customer-facing functionality as the platform grows
Improve the Product Experience- Translate complex AI and software-engineering capabilities into clear, usable workflows
- Improve navigation, information architecture, discoverability, onboarding, and task completion
- Design effective loading states, progress indicators, confirmations, empty states, validation, and client-side error messages
- Help users understand what the AI system is doing, what requires their attention, and how to recover when something goes wrong
- Reduce unnecessary complexity and cognitive load without hiding important technical information
- Apply strong UI/UX judgment while collaborating with our design contractor on interaction and visual design
Use Product Data to Find and Remove Friction- Instrument customer journeys and product workflows using PostHog or similar product-analytics tools
- Analyze funnels, feature adoption, session behavior, workflow completion, and abandonment
- Use session recordings and product data responsibly to identify where users become confused or blocked
- Define meaningful product-experience metrics and evaluate whether improvements deliver the intended outcome
- Combine quantitative product data with customer feedback rather than relying solely on intuition
Work Closely with Customers and FDEs- Partner with Field Deployment Engineers and customer-facing teams to understand where users encounter difficulty
- Turn recurring support issues and customer feedback into durable product improvements
- Distinguish between customer-specific requests and broader product problems
- Participate in selected customer discussions when direct technical or UX context is useful
- Help close the loop from customer observation to design, implementation, measurement, and iteration
Collaborate Across Engineering and Product- Work with backend engineers to design APIs and system behavior that support intuitive user experiences
- Establish clear frontend/backend contracts for asynchronous and long-running AI workflows
- Participate in product, architecture, and technical-design discussions
- Coordinate with full-stack developers and contract frontend resources while maintaining coherent engineering standards
- Review code, mentor engineers, and provide clear technical direction without becoming a bottleneck
Own Production Quality- Monitor and resolve client-side errors, frontend regressions, performance problems, and usability failures
- Introduce appropriate frontend observability, logging, error tracking, and performance monitoring
- Improve automated testing across components, workflows, and critical customer journeys
- Support production releases and participate in incident analysis when the customer experience is affected
- Design graceful recovery paths for API failures, partial results, timeouts, and long-running AI operations
What We’re Looking ForRequired- 3 - 6 years of professional software engineering experience, with substantial frontend ownership
- Strong production experience with React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
- Experience designing and evolving the frontend architecture of a production SaaS product
- Strong understanding of state management, component architecture, browser behavior, asynchronous workflows, and API integration
- Experience owning customer-facing functionality from problem definition through production measurement
- Demonstrated product and UX judgment—not only the ability to implement completed designs
- Experience diagnosing and resolving production issues
- Experience working closely with backend engineers on API design and system behavior. Understands the full-stack and cares deeply about product quality and user outcomes
- Ability to translate complex workflows into clear user experiences
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfort working in a startup environment with ambiguity, changing priorities, and real customer constraints
Strong Plus- Experience with Next.js and modern React application architecture
- Experience with PostHog, Amplitude, Mixpanel, Pendo, FullStory, or similar product-analytics tools
- Experience with frontend monitoring and observability tools such as Sentry
- Experience building or maintaining design systems and reusable component libraries
- Experience working in Figma and collaborating closely with UI/UX designers
- Understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive interaction design
- Experience improving enterprise SaaS onboarding, feature adoption, or workflow completion
- Experience designing interfaces for AI systems, developer tools, workflow products, or other technically complex applications
- Experience presenting system status, confidence, provenance, traceability, or explainability to users
- Experience with Playwright, Cypress, Vitest, React Testing Library, or similar testing tools
- Experience using AI-assisted development tools thoughtfully in day-to-day engineering work
- Startup experience or responsibility extending beyond assigned feature delivery
Who Thrives at KAVIAEngineers who do well at KAVIA typically:
- Think about whether users succeed, not merely whether a feature shipped
- Enjoy simplifying sophisticated technical workflows without oversimplifying them
- Use customer feedback and product data to improve their decisions
- Care about clarity, consistency, accessibility, performance, and maintainability
- Are comfortable moving between implementation, system design, product discussion, and customer context
- Take ownership without waiting for every requirement to be fully specified
- Know when to move quickly and when frontend quality or UX debt will become expensive
- Prefer building durable production products over polished demonstrations
Why This Role Is Interesting- Own and shape the product experience of a real production AI platform
- Work directly with KAVIA’s founders, product leaders, engineers, and customer-facing teams
- Influence what gets built as well as how it is implemented
- Solve difficult interaction problems involving AI agents, long-running workflows, complex codebases, and enterprise users
- Establish the frontend architecture, design-system practices, analytics discipline, and UX quality bar as KAVIA scales
- Build workflows used by enterprise software-engineering teams on consequential systems
- Have meaningful product ownership and visible impact in a growing company
A Note from KAVIAWe are not looking for someone who has used every tool listed above.
We are looking for a strong frontend engineer who understands the full-stack and cares deeply about product quality and user outcomes — thinks like a Product Engineer and works close to product, users, design, and customer outcomes — someone who can lead implementation, collaborate across disciplines, learn from customer behavior, and turn a sophisticated platform into an experience users can understand and trust.
Applicants with strong frontend architecture experience and demonstrated product judgment are encouraged to apply, even if their current title does not include “Lead.”
