Overview
As Assistant Manager – SIM Master Data Management, you will lead SIM master data excellence, governance, quality, and optimization across General Mills manufacturing plants and systems. You will manage a team of SIM Engineers/Experts and partners with engineering, sourcing, finance, and plant teams to standardize MRO master data, improve data quality and inventory efficiency, and drive procurement effectiveness, reliability, productivity, and cost optimization. The Shift timings for the role is 1:30 PM to 10:30 PM
Key Accountabilities
Strategy, Governance & Standards:
- Lead the SIM master data strategy and roadmap for MRO inventory across GMI plants, aligned with global Manufacturing & Engineering and Global Sourcing priorities.
- Define, maintain, and continuously improve global and regional SIM Master Data Standards (naming conventions, classification, attributes, sourcing attributes etc.).
- Establish and govern standard work, SOPs, and controls for MRO master data creation, change, and retirement across SAP/Maximo environments.
- Set up and monitor data quality KPIs (completeness, accuracy, duplicates, SLAs etc.) and drive corrective actions with plants and cross-functional teams.
- Ensure SIM processes and data practices comply with corporate policies, financial audit requirements, and data governance guidelines.
People Leadership & Capability Building
- Lead and develop a team of SIM Engineers/SIM Master Data experts; provide coaching, performance feedback, and clear development plans.
- Allocate work, prioritize projects, and ensure on-time, high-quality delivery of master data activities and analytics.
- Build subject-matter expertise in MRO inventory, SIM processes, and CMMS/Maximo/SAP within the team through training, best-practice sharing, and mentoring.
- Foster a continuous improvement and problem-solving culture, using CI tools (Why-Why, Standard Work, JTAs, etc.) and TPM concepts in day-to-day work.
Master Data Operations & Optimization
- Oversee creation, update, and maintenance of MRO master data in SAP/Maximo, ensuring strict adherence to SIM MDM standards.
- Lead systematic duplicate detection and elimination, item consolidation, and standardization initiatives to improve data quality and reduce inventory complexity.
- Guide the team on component and inventory management expertise to support cost reduction and working capital optimization
- Drive initiatives to convert OEM-only parts to MRO parts and partner with preferred suppliers and Global Sourcing to unlock value.
- Ensure robust documentation of master data processes, change logs, and decisions for traceability and readiness.
Stakeholder Management & Collaboration
- Act as primary SIM Master Data point of contact for corporate Manufacturing & Engineering, Global Sourcing, Global Finance, plant maintenance/storeroom teams, and GIC Engineering and Manufacturing Team.
- Partner with reliability engineers and plant teams to ensure spare parts strategies support equipment reliability, uptime, and TPM objectives.
- Communicate effectively with a broad audience (technical and non-technical), translating master data topics into clear business impact.
- Lead and/or support cross-functional projects (e.g., new line/capex projects, system migrations) from a SIM Master Data perspective.
- Manage escalations from the stakeholders and implement quick mitigations. Work towards process improvements.
Analytics, Reporting & Insights
- Lead and enhance SIM master data metrics and dashboards/scorecards
- Provide data reporting and analysis for SIM MDM and reliability initiatives; translate findings into actionable recommendations for plants and leadership
- Support and challenge plants on inventory master data health reviews, highlighting non-standard losses, excess/obsolete/discontinued, and opportunities for optimization
- Prepare and deliver operational and leadership-level presentations to share progress, risks, and next steps
Systems, Projects & Transformation
- Represent SIM Master Data in CMMS/Maximo/SAP upgrades, enhancements, and integrations, including business requirements, testing, validation, and change management.
- Drive process automation and digital solutions in the SIM Master Data space (templates, tools, validations, workflow improvements).
- Champion the 5Rs of SIM – Right Parts, Right Place, Right Time, Right Work, Right Value – and embed them into processes, metrics, and decision-making.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Production, Electronics, Telecommunication, Instrumentation, or a related field.
- 5–8 years of relevant experience in maintenance, repair, and operations inventory management, storeroom, engineering, or material master data management.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of people-management experience, including coaching, feedback, workload planning, and team development.
- Experience with leading global or cross-functional storeroom, MRO, maintenance, or master data projects.
- Strong leadership, prioritization, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and project-management skills.
- Experience with Power BI, Tableau, automation, workflow, or process-improvement tools.
- Hands-on experience with Maximo or similar CMMS/EAM systems and knowledge of SAP/ERP systems.
- Knowledge of MRO master data, including classification, criticality, stocking, sourcing, and spare-parts strategies.
- Strong data-analysis and advanced Excel skills, including pivots, formulas, charts, and data-quality analysis.
- Knowledge of maintenance reliability, preventive maintenance, TPM, and continuous improvement.
- Professional certification in inventory, supply chain, master data, maintenance, or reliability (e.g., CPIM, CSCP, MDG, CMRP).
- Experience in FMCG or manufacturing, preferably with multi-plant exposure.
