MEP Coordinator / Design Coordination Architect
Role Summary
We are looking for an Architect with strong MEP coordination capability to act as the bridge between the architectural team and MEP engineers. The role requires close coordination during concept, schematic, preliminary, detailed design, and GFC stages to ensure that architectural intent and MEP requirements are integrated smoothly, practically, and with minimal rework.
This person should understand architectural planning, sections, ceiling coordination, shafts, plant space, service routes, and site realities well enough to identify issues early and coordinate resolution between architects, MEP engineers, structural consultants, interiors, and site teams.
Key Responsibilities
Design Coordination
* Coordinate between architectural, interior, structural, and MEP teams
* Review plans, sections, elevations, and reflected ceiling plans for MEP integration
* Ensure proper coordination of:
* shafts
* risers
* plant rooms
* service routes
* ceiling zones
* access requirements
* equipment space planning
* Identify clashes and coordination gaps early in the design stage
* Support resolution of conflicts between architecture and MEP requirements
Stage-wise Coordination
* Support coordination from:
* concept
* schematic design
* preliminary design
* DBR stage
* detailed design
* tender stage
* GFC stage
* Track pending inputs and ensure timely closure of coordination points
* Help convert design intent into coordinated drawings ready for execution
Drawing and Model Review
* Review architectural and MEP drawings for consistency
* Participate in BIM / Revit / CAD coordination reviews
* Flag interface issues between disciplines before issue of drawings
* Ensure revisions are tracked and incorporated properly
Client / Consultant / Site Interface
* Attend design coordination meetings with clients, architects, consultants, and internal teams
* Communicate architectural implications of MEP decisions and MEP implications of architectural changes
* Support site teams with clarification of design coordination matters
* Follow up with all stakeholders to close issues, not just identify them
Documentation and Tracking
* Maintain coordination trackers, MOMs, action lists, and issue logs
* Ensure that unresolved items are followed up till closure
* Support preparation of coordinated reports, presentations, and stage submissions
* Help maintain version control and coordinated issue records
Desired Background
* Bachelor’s degree in Architecture
* Preferably 3 to 10+ years of relevant experience in:
* architectural coordination
* MEP coordination
* design management
* multidisciplinary building projects
* Experience working on:
* commercial buildings
* IT campuses
* hospitals
* institutional projects
* high-end residential / mixed-use developments
Required Skills
* Strong understanding of architectural design and detailing
* Good understanding of MEP systems integration
* Ability to read and coordinate:
* HVAC layouts
* electrical layouts
* plumbing / drainage layouts
* fire protection layouts
* ELV systems
* Strong understanding of:
* shafts
* plant room requirements
* service coordination in ceiling and floor zones
* coordination between structure and services
* Ability to identify practical execution issues early
* Strong communication and follow-up skills
* Good coordination meeting leadership and issue-closing ability
* Proficiency in:
* AutoCAD
* Revit / BIM coordination workflows
* MS Office / Excel / PowerPoint
* Ability to prepare clean coordination markups and tracking sheets
Preferred Skills
* Experience with BIM coordination meetings
* Knowledge of MEP design stages and DBR process
* Experience in consultant-side coordination
* Exposure to site coordination and execution interfaces
* Understanding of building codes, fire norms, and basic accessibility/service planning requirements
