Profile Description
Product Engineering encompasses designing, developing, and maintaining intelligent software products that meet customer needs and drive business growth. The Vice President – Product Engineering is responsible for the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from ideation and requirements gathering to deployment, maintenance, and continuous innovation. This role will lead the development of next-generation healthcare platforms by leveraging Generative AI, Agentic AI, cloud-native architectures, and modern engineering practices, while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable, and high-quality products that achieve strategic business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute the product engineering strategy for Clinical/Or Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) or Value-Based Care (VBC) software products.
- Drive innovation by integrating Generative AI, Agentic AI, intelligent automation, and AI-powered decision support capabilities into healthcare solutions to enhance clinical, operational, and business outcomes.
- Identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation in the healthcare enablement platform market through AI, cloud, and modern engineering practices.
- Oversee the end-to-end product development lifecycle, from concept through release, ensuring scalable, secure, resilient, and cloud-native product architectures.
- Lead the design and delivery of AI-enabled, enterprise-grade, full-stack applications built on modern architecture principles, including API-first design, microservices, distributed systems, and event-driven architectures.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality software products that meet Clinical, RCM, and VBC business requirements.
- Define and manage product roadmaps, prioritizing features, AI capabilities, and enhancements based on customer feedback, business priorities, and market trends.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing engineering organization, fostering a culture of engineering excellence, innovation, AI adoption, ownership, and continuous improvement.
- Build organizational capabilities in Generative AI, Agentic AI, platform engineering, full-stack development, and modern software engineering practices.
- Ensure engineering teams have the required skills, platforms, tools, and AI capabilities to successfully deliver strategic initiatives.
- Ensure software products comply with healthcare regulations and standards (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH) while implementing responsible AI governance, privacy, security, and compliance best practices.
- Collaborate closely with Product Management, AI/ML, Data Science, Architecture, Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, and Operations teams to deliver customer-centric solutions.
- Represent the organization at customer meetings, executive forums, and industry conferences, showcasing innovation in healthcare technology and AI.
- Manage engineering budgets, investments, vendor relationships, and resources effectively to achieve business objectives.
- Monitor engineering, operational, and financial performance using data-driven metrics to optimize costs, improve delivery velocity, and maximize ROI.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Master's degree (MS), MBA, or equivalent advanced qualification is preferred.
Role Prerequisites
- 18–24 years of experience in software product engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior engineering leadership role.
- Proven track record of developing, scaling, and managing enterprise software products, including experience with 0-to-1 product development, platform modernization, and digital transformation initiatives.
- Demonstrated experience leading large engineering organizations delivering cloud-native SaaS products and enterprise digital platforms.
- Experience driving AI-enabled product transformation, including Generative AI, Agentic AI, intelligent automation, conversational AI, or AI-powered enterprise applications, is highly preferred.
- Experience building and scaling distributed engineering teams while driving engineering excellence, innovation, and organizational transformation.
- Extensive experience in the healthcare industry with a strong understanding of Clinical workflows, Revenue Cycle Management (RCM), Value-Based Care (VBC), healthcare interoperability, and regulatory compliance is highly desirable.
Functional Competencies
- Expertise in Agile, Scrum, DevSecOps, CI/CD, and modern software engineering methodologies.
- Strong technical background with the ability to define enterprise architecture, technology strategy, engineering governance, and technology roadmaps.
- Deep expertise in modern full-stack application development, API-first architectures, microservices, distributed systems, and data-intensive applications, with a strong understanding of enterprise backend technologies and modern software engineering frameworks. Experience with technologies such as Python (Django/FastAPI), Java, .NET, or equivalent platforms is preferred.
- Strong understanding of modern frontend technologies such as React and Angular for building enterprise-scale web applications.
- Experience designing scalable data architectures using both relational (SQL) and NoSQL databases, with expertise in data modeling, high availability, performance optimization, and distributed data management.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), containerization (Docker), Kubernetes, cloud-native application development, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and platform engineering.
- Strong understanding of API management, event-driven architecture, messaging frameworks, and enterprise integration patterns.
- Hands-on understanding of Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Agentic AI frameworks, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), AI orchestration, prompt engineering, AI agents, vector databases, AI governance, and AI application architecture.
- Knowledge of healthcare IT systems, interoperability standards (HL7, FHIR), Electronic Health Records (EHRs), and healthcare integration frameworks is preferred.
- Strong project and program management capabilities with the ability to lead multiple strategic engineering initiatives simultaneously.
- Expertise in engineering governance, resource planning, budgeting, risk management, performance measurement, vendor management, and technology investment planning.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to leverage engineering metrics, AI insights, and data analytics to drive strategic decision-making and continuous product improvement.
