We're Hiring at IIFL Capital
Position - Senior Risk Officer
Reporting To - MD
Role Overview -
We are looking for a dynamic, technology-savvy, and forward-thinking Senior Risk Officer to lead the organization's enterprise-wide risk management function. The ideal candidate should bring a strong understanding of the evolving financial services ecosystem, with the ability to build and strengthen risk frameworks that support business growth while ensuring regulatory compliance and operational resilience.
This role goes beyond traditional operational risk management and encompasses Enterprise Risk Management (ERM), fraud prevention, technology-enabled risk controls, and governance. The SRO will work closely with senior leadership and regularly present risk assessments, key initiatives, and emerging risk trends to the MD, Risk Management Committee, and Audit Committee.
Key Responsibilities -
- Develop and implement the organization's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework.
- Lead Operational Risk Management across all business functions.
- Oversee the Technology Vigilance & Control (TVC) / Fraud Control Unit, including fraud prevention, investigation, monitoring, and mitigation.
- Establish robust risk governance, policies, and control frameworks aligned with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Identify, assess, monitor, and report strategic, operational, technology, cyber, financial, compliance, and emerging risks.
- Drive a technology-enabled risk management culture by leveraging analytics, automation, AI, and digital monitoring tools.
- Partner with business and technology teams to ensure risks are identified early and mitigated effectively.
- Present periodic risk dashboards, emerging risk assessments, and mitigation strategies to the MD, Risk Management Committee, and Audit Committee.
- Ensure effective incident management, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
- Build a proactive risk culture across the organization through training, awareness, and continuous engagement.
- Liaise with regulators, internal audit, external auditors, and other stakeholders on risk-related matters.
The ideal candidate should have -
- Excellent academic credentials from a reputed institution (MBA, CA, CFA, FRM, or equivalent qualifications preferred).
- 12–18 years of relevant experience in risk management within financial services, capital markets, brokerage, fintech, or banking.
- Strong exposure to Enterprise Risk Management, Operational Risk, Fraud Risk, and Governance.
- Good understanding of technology risks, digital platforms, cybersecurity risks, AI-driven controls, and data analytics.
- Experience interacting with senior management and presenting to Board-level committees.
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to build scalable risk frameworks in a fast-growing, technology-driven organization.
Preferred Background -
We would prefer candidates who are currently one or two levels below the Chief Risk Officer or Head of Risk in leading organizations and are ready to step into a broader leadership role. The focus is on identifying high-potential, growth-oriented professionals rather than only established SRO's.
Key Attributes -
- Strategic thinker with strong business acumen.
- Technology-first mindset with an appreciation of digital transformation.
- Analytical, data-driven, and commercially balanced.
- High integrity and strong governance orientation.
- Confident communicator capable of engaging with Boards and senior leadership.
