About Studio Picante
Studio Picante is a contemporary fashion label creating thoughtfully designed pieces with a focus on craftsmanship, quality, and timeless design. We're looking for a Design Team Lead who can translate ideas into beautifully executed garments while working closely with our design and production teams.
About the role
As Design Team Lead, you'll oversee the design and development of collections from concept through production. This role requires someone equally passionate about creativity and execution, someone who understands garment construction, fit, fabrics, and production, and enjoys collaborating across every stage of the design process.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of collections from concept to final execution.
- Create sketches, technical drawings, and design specifications.
- Execute designs from initial concept to finished garment while maintaining the creative vision.
- Research fashion trends, consumer insights, fabrics, and materials.
- Work closely with pattern makers, karigars, tailors, vendors, and production teams.
- Ensure exceptional fit, quality, and finishing across all products.
- Coordinate production timelines and streamline workflows.
- Manage multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail.
- Collaborate across teams to ensure smooth communication and execution.
- Mentor junior designers and uphold Studio Picante's design and quality standards.
Preferred Skills
- Strong draping, pattern making, and garment construction skills.
- Knowledge of embroidery and surface development.
- Strong understanding of fabrics, sourcing, and production processes.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
- Excellent organisational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage vendors, tailors, and cross-functional teams.
- Strong eye for detail, fit, quality, and finishing.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design or a related field.
- 2–3 years of experience at a fashion label.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating design thinking, garment development, and execution.
