Head – Cloud Platform & Healthcare SaaS Security

We are looking for a senior, hands-on technology leader who can take complete ownership of the backend, cloud infrastructure, security, DevSecOps and production readiness of a healthcare SaaS platform intended for the US market.
This is not a customer-facing, sales or purely managerial role. The candidate must be capable of reviewing an existing platform, identifying architecture and security gaps, implementing the required improvements and making the product secure, scalable, reliable and ready for US healthcare deployment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and improve the existing backend, database and cloud architecture.
- Design a secure, scalable and highly available SaaS platform.
- Build and manage production infrastructure on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
- Establish development, staging and production environments.
- Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation or equivalent.
- Build secure CI/CD pipelines and controlled deployment processes.
- Implement Docker, Kubernetes, ECS or equivalent container platforms.
- Establish monitoring, logging, alerts, backup and disaster recovery.
- Implement identity and access management, encryption, secrets management and audit logging.
- Establish DevSecOps processes, vulnerability scanning and penetration-test remediation.
- Design secure multi-tenant architecture and customer-level data isolation.
- Prepare the platform technically for HIPAA, SOC 2 and US healthcare security requirements.
- Build incident-response, recovery and production-support processes.
- Lead backend, cloud, DevOps and security engineers while remaining technically hands-on.
Required Experience
- 8–15 years in backend engineering, cloud architecture, platform engineering, DevOps, SRE or cloud security.
- Strong experience building and operating production SaaS platforms.
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
- Strong knowledge of backend systems, databases, APIs and distributed architecture.
- Experience with Terraform or other Infrastructure-as-Code tools.
- Experience with CI/CD, Docker and container orchestration.
- Strong understanding of cloud security, application security and DevSecOps.
- Experience with monitoring, high availability, backup and disaster recovery.
- Experience leading technical teams while remaining hands-on.
Healthcare Experience
The candidate should have worked on a healthcare SaaS product used by customers in the United States.
Experience with any of the following is relevant:
- EHR or EMR platforms
- Clinical workflow systems
- Practice-management software
- Laboratory systems
- Remote-monitoring platforms
- Medical-device cloud platforms
- Healthcare data or analytics platforms
The candidate should understand the practical technical requirements of HIPAA, protected health information, access control, audit logging, encryption, data isolation and incident response.
Experience with SOC 2, HITRUST or ISO 27001 is preferred.
Preferred Candidate
We are looking for someone who:
- Has personally built, secured or operated a real healthcare SaaS platform.
- Has taken a product from an early stage to enterprise production readiness.
- Can combine backend architecture, cloud infrastructure, security and reliability.
- Can independently assess the current platform and create an implementation roadmap.
- Is willing to relocate to and work from Chennai.
- Has previously lived, studied or worked in Chennai or Tamil Nadu and is interested in returning for a long-term leadership role.
