J Ob Overview
Act as a technical resource and operational anchor for the Azure team. In addition to managing complex infrastructure, troubleshooting, and automating workloads with Terraform, this role involves guiding junior engineers, taking ownership of project deliveries, and acting as a bridge between the engineering team and project stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Junior Mentorship & Team Guidance
- Provide technical guidance and day-to-day mentorship to L1/Junior cloud engineers.
- Conduct code reviews for PowerShell scripts, CLI automation, and Terraform modules to ensure best practices and formatting consistency.
- Lead Knowledge Transfer (KT) sessions and build an internal repository of technical runbooks to upskill the team.
Operational Leadership & Delivery
- Serve as the primary escalation point for L2 technical incidents, driving rapid troubleshooting, resolution, and comprehensive Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Own small-to-medium project sprints (e.g., a specific migration wave or a security remediation sprint), tracking milestones and ensuring timely delivery.
- Enforce SLA compliance across the operational queue, ensuring tickets are prioritized and resolved according to business agreements.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
- Participate in technical discussions with clients or internal stakeholders to gather requirements and explain technical solutions clearly.
- Collaborate with L3/Cloud Architects to translate design blueprints into actionable engineering tasks for the team.
Technical Responsibilities
Provisioning, Deprovisioning & MAC
- Deploy, configure, and maintain Azure IaaS and PaaS services.
- Configure identity, access management, and role assignments using Azure Entra ID and RBAC.
- Automate routine provisioning tasks using Azure Automation, PowerShell, and Azure CLI.
- Execute VM resizing, storage scaling, complex network modifications, and subscription migrations (EA/PAYG to CSP).
Optimization, Governance & Security
- Monitor utilization metrics and execute rightsizing, Reserved Instances (RI), and FinOps recommendations.
- Enforce cloud governance by implementing tags and Azure Policies across environments.
- Actively remediate VAPT findings and infrastructure vulnerabilities using Microsoft Defender for Cloud. Disaster Recovery & DevOps (IaC)
- Configure and manage Azure Backup and Azure Site Recovery (ASR); lead periodic DR drills and failover testing.
- Manage user access, Azure Repos administration, and branch policies in Azure DevOps.
- Utilize and maintain reusable Terraform modules to deploy Azure resources (including Hub-Spoke networks and basic Landing Zones).
- Manage remote state files, Git branching workflows, and resolve Terraform deployment errors.
