Role Description
The Cohesity Backup Engineer will design, implement, and manage Cohesity backup and recovery solutions across multiple environments. Daily responsibilities include configuring backup policies, monitoring backup jobs, troubleshooting failures, and ensuring data integrity and recoverability. The role involves performing regular backup validation and restore tests, optimizing storage usage, and maintaining documentation of backup architecture and procedures. The engineer will also collaborate with infrastructure, security, and application teams to support business continuity, participate in incident response, and assist in capacity planning and upgrade activities.
Profile Requirements
- Proficiency in Cohesity backup and recovery platforms, including configuration, policy management, and performance optimization.
- Strong experience with enterprise backup concepts, data protection, disaster recovery planning, and restore testing.
- Solid understanding of server, storage, and virtualization technologies (e.g., Windows/Linux servers, SAN/NAS, VMware or similar hypervisors).
- Knowledge of networking fundamentals relevant to backup operations, such as IP addressing, routing, and firewall rules.
- Ability to troubleshoot backup and restore issues, analyze logs, and implement preventive measures.
- Experience working in IT infrastructure or systems engineering roles within enterprise environments.
- Familiarity with security and compliance requirements related to data protection and retention.
- Strong documentation skills and ability to create operational runbooks and technical diagrams.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional technical and business teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Professional certifications in backup/data protection, storage, or virtualization (such as Cohesity, VMware, or similar) are an advantage.
- Willingness to support on-call or after-hours activities related to critical backup and recovery operations when needed.
