Job Summary:
• Meeting with the product development team to discuss product ideas.
• Analyzing market and industry product trends.
• Determining product feasibility costs and return on investments.
• Developing design ideas based on customer interests, budgets, and market research.
• Creating rough product designs using sketches and computer software.
• Conducting theoretical testing on proposed design solutions.
• Creating full product designs and specifications using computer software modelling techniques.
• Selecting product materials and designing the product manufacturing process.
• Ensure products conform to market specifications and safety regulations.
• Ensure effective and efficient completion of projects by planning and implementing courses of action with other functions and key stakeholders.
• Apply technical expertise to solve design problems or to gauge appropriateness of solutions to various applications.
• Conduct Design or Process FMEAs as applicable to develop and execute resulting risk mitigation plans.
• Provide technical support to CFT's like manufacturing engineering, EHS, suppliers, Quality, and operations in each of their deliverables.
• Meet the needs of internal and external customers, through documenting, understanding and prioritizing customer requirements.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Drive the Project from Scoping to implementation and own the complete project life cycle.
• Develop concepts, design / select & develop components along with suppliers, develop component specifications, DFMEA and test plan.
• Ability to solve technical problems, identify solutions, participate in concept reviews, critical design reviews, other technical discussion with global team.
• Understand project requirements, collaborate with project owners, leaders & cross functional teams across the globe for delivery of projects, by adhering to standard processes, systems and project management principles.
• Ensure the completion of project milestones/deliverables within committed Quality (Q), Delivery (D), Project cost (C) & Product cost (C) targets.
Required Skills:
• BE degree Mechanical
• 5 to 7 Years experience in component selection, system integration, concept development, design calculations & design engineering.
• Hands on experience in DFMEA and test plan development.
• Hands on experience in designing a structural components (load bearing) for the product application.
• Good understanding of component design & Manufacturing of plastics, sheet metal, casting & machining will be an added advantage.
• Basic knowledge in materials sciences and electrical systems.
• Exposure to refrigeration components and systems will be added advantage.
• Project management experience is advantage
