Role Description The Lead – Farmer Accounting is a full-time, on-site role based in Pune City, responsible for overseeing and managing all accounting activities related to partner farmers within Akshayakalpa’s ecosystem. This role involves maintaining accurate farmer ledgers, tracking milk procurement and payments, and ensuring timely reconciliation of accounts in line with organizational policies. The individual will coordinate closely with farm operations, procurement, and finance teams to validate data, resolve discrepancies, and answer farmer queries on payments and statements. Daily tasks include monitoring transaction records, preparing regular reports on farmer-related financials, supporting audits, and implementing process improvements for transparency and efficiency. The role also contributes to building trust with farmers by providing clear communication on financial matters and upholding Akshayakalpa’s ethical and farmer-first values.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices, especially in agriculture or supply-chain contexts, with experience in managing vendor or farmer accounts.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP tools, along with advanced MS Excel skills for data analysis, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Solid understanding of financial controls, documentation standards, and audit requirements, with the ability to maintain accurate and compliant records.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage with farmers and internal teams, resolve queries, and build transparent, trust-based relationships.
- Ability to work on-site in Pune City, collaborate across operations and finance functions, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field; relevant experience in agri-business, dairy, or FMCG sectors is an advantage.
