Position Summary
Under the direction of SQA leadership, the SQA Functional Testing Domain Lead is responsible for leading the planning, execution, and continuous improvement of functional testing practices across assigned applications, products, or programs. This role provides domain leadership for functional testing within the SDLC, ensuring delivery quality, risk mitigation, and conformance to enterprise quality standards.
Primary Responsibilities
- Lead functional testing activities across assigned projects, products, or portfolios, ensuring coverage of business requirements and user workflows
- Implement and enforce SQA functional testing standards, processes, and methodologies across the SDLC
- Partner with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Development to review requirements and identify functional test risks early
- Define functional test strategies, test plans, test scenarios, and execution approaches aligned to release goals
- Oversee and coordinate functional test execution activities across onshore, offshore, and/or vendor teams
- Identify, assess, prioritize, and communicate functional defects, risks, and quality gaps; escalate as required
- Accurately estimate effort, resource needs, and timelines for functional testing work
- Provide subject matter expertise and mentoring to functional testers and other SQA resources
- Collaborate across SQA domains to support integrated, end-to-end test coverage
- Regularly report functional test status, risks, and readiness metrics to leadership
- Support UAT and operational testing activities as needed
- Drive continuous improvement in functional testing effectiveness, efficiency, and quality outcomes
- Ensure adherence to SDLC, quality governance, and compliance requirements. Work closely with the outsourced teams to train new team members and ensure that the new team is up-to the par to complete the assignment.
- Deep understanding of business processes and functional application behavior
- Ability to assess functional impacts across integrated systems and user journeys
- Trusted advisor on functional quality and risk
- Demonstrated expertise leading functional testing in complex environments
- Ability to define and execute functional test strategies under time- and scope-driven constraints
- Sets quality standards and serves as a role model for functional testing excellence
- Strong knowledge of SDLC phases and quality gates
- Experience integrating functional testing into Agile and hybrid delivery models
- Ensures quality validation is systematic, repeatable, and audit-ready
- Proactively identifies functional risks and defects
- Leads issue resolution across teams in high-pressure situations
- Contributes to enterprise best practices for defect and risk management
- Coordinates functional testing activities across internal teams and vendors
- Understands vendor capabilities and validates delivered test work for quality and completeness
Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
- 8+ years of experience in performance testing and performance engineering roles.
- Demonstrated hands?on experience conducting performance, load, stress, and scalability testing for enterprise applications.
- Proven experience leading or mentoring a small team of technical specialists through direct contribution and coaching.
- Experience supporting multiple application teams across complex, distributed environments.
- Strong collaboration experience with application development, architecture, infrastructure/cloud, and performance engineering stakeholders.
- Experience working in modern cloud?based and integration?heavy application ecosystems.
- Experience applying data?driven and intelligent techniques to improve performance test design, execution efficiency, and results analysis.

- The base salary range advertised represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for this position. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
