Role Description The Code Evaluation & Reasoning Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and refining technical assessments that accurately measure candidates’ coding ability, problem-solving, and reasoning skills. In this full-time remote role, you will analyze code submissions, create and review coding challenges, and develop robust evaluation criteria that align with real-world engineering work. You will collaborate with product, data, and engineering teams to improve AI-driven assessment pipelines, validate scoring models, and ensure fairness and consistency across candidate evaluations. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing code in multiple languages, documenting evaluation guidelines, generating detailed feedback reports, and helping refine the underlying logic that powers Coffeee.io’s matching algorithms. You will also contribute to continuous improvement by monitoring assessment performance, identifying edge cases, and proposing enhancements to assessment design and evaluation tools.
Qualifications
- Strong programming and software engineering skills, with experience in at least one backend language (e.g., Python, Java, Node.js) and familiarity with modern development practices.
- Background in algorithms, data structures, and system design, with the ability to evaluate code quality, performance, and scalability.
- Experience creating or reviewing coding challenges, technical tests, or interview questions, with a focus on reasoning and problem-solving.
- Ability to analyze complex code submissions and provide clear, structured feedback to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Comfort working with data-driven products, including basic understanding of how AI or automation can support candidate evaluation and matching.
- Excellent written communication skills for documenting evaluation criteria, assessment guidelines, and reporting outcomes.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical mindset, and commitment to fair, unbiased, and inclusive evaluation practices.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage multiple assessments, and collaborate effectively across distributed teams.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in technical hiring, developer relations, or assessment platforms is a plus.
