Job Description – Senior Mechanical Manager (MEP Design & Coordination)

Job Summary
Samsung C&T India Pvt. Ltd. is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Manager to lead the Mechanical (MEP) design coordination, technical reviews, and site engineering activities for high-rise building projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, infrastructure utilities, and multidisciplinary coordination to ensure seamless integration between design and construction while maintaining compliance with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design coordination and provide timely MEP design inputs to support civil construction activities.
- Review and interpret Mechanical, Architectural, and Structural drawings to ensure constructability and design compliance.
- Ensure compliance with local authority regulations, international codes, and relevant design standards.
- Review and validate mechanical design calculations, including:
- HVAC and Air Conditioning Systems
- Ventilation Systems
- Water Supply Demand & Water Balance
- Hot Water Systems
- Storm Water Drainage
- Fire Fighting Systems
- Solid Waste Management Systems
- Review MEP infrastructure designs, including flood risk assessment and mitigation measures.
- Study Design Basis Reports (DBR), Concept Design Reports, and design submissions for technical accuracy and project compliance.
- Prepare and review Builder's Work Drawings and fabrication drawings required for site execution.
- Coordinate mechanical design interfaces with Electrical, ELV, Fire Alarm, BMS, and other MEP services.
- Verify MEP space planning, shaft sizing, and service routing in coordination with Architectural and Structural disciplines.
- Identify design discrepancies and raise Requests for Information (RFIs) wherever required.
- Coordinate with consultants, contractors, clients, and statutory authorities to obtain timely approvals and design clarifications.
- Review material submittals to ensure compliance with project specifications and site requirements.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor design implementation and resolve technical issues.
- Coordinate closely with site construction teams (Civil & MEP) to ensure smooth execution of design intent.
- Review fabrication schedules, procurement status, and delivery schedules of mechanical equipment and materials.
- Monitor project progress and prepare periodic MEP progress reports in coordination with execution teams.
- Participate actively in design review meetings, coordination meetings, and technical discussions.
- Provide practical and timely engineering solutions to construction-related challenges.
- Lead and mentor the Mechanical Design Coordination team while ensuring effective communication among all stakeholders.
Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree (B.E./B.Tech.) in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized university.
- Master's degree will be an added advantage.
Experience
- 15–20 years of relevant experience in Mechanical (MEP) Design, Design Coordination, and Site Engineering.
- Mandatory experience in high-rise building construction projects.
- Experience working with reputed PMC, EPC, Design Consultancy, or international construction organizations is preferred.
Required Technical Skills
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing, Fire Fighting, and Infrastructure Utilities.
- Thorough understanding of MEP coordination with Architectural and Structural disciplines.
- Excellent knowledge of NBC, IS Codes, NFPA, ASHRAE, IPC, and other applicable international standards.
- Ability to review DBR, concept reports, shop drawings, fabrication drawings, and coordination drawings.
- Experience in RFI management, design review, and multidisciplinary coordination.
- Good understanding of BIM workflows and clash coordination will be an added advantage.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office. Experience with BIM/Revit/Navisworks is preferred.
