Role Overview
As the Electrical Engineering Manager, you will direct multidisciplinary teams of Testing, Commissioning, and Relay Engineers. You will bridge the gap between initial electrical planning and final plant energization, ensuring that all power systems (especially transformers, switchyards, and protection schemes) are rigorously tested, safely commissioned, and fully documented.
Key Responsibilities
- Team Leadership & Mentorship: Lead, mentor, and schedule Testing, Commissioning, and Relay Engineers. Review their performance and ensure proper task distribution to meet strict project deadlines.
- Testing Oversight: Ensure testing teams effectively execute transformer testing (insulation/winding resistance, turns ratio, polarity, dielectric, and functional checks) while maintaining traceable reports and valid instrument calibrations.
- Commissioning Direction: Manage pre-commissioning processes, including interlock checks and OLTC/cooling system functional tests. Coordinate safe energization and final handover activities with operations and clients.
- Protection Scheme Verification: Oversee the Relay Engineer’s scope, ensuring all protection relays (differential, overcurrent, earth fault) are meticulously configured, tested, and integrated with SCADA and control systems.
- Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict safe work practices, such as lock-out/tag-out (LOTO), earthing, and permit-to-work protocols. Ensure all activities adhere to contract specifications and international/local standards.
- Quality & Documentation: Review and approve risk assessments, risk mitigation plans, test packs, and punch lists. Guarantee seamless documentation for final project sign-off and system handover.
- Interdisciplinary Coordination: Facilitate clear communication between the field, the control rooms, and external stakeholders for seamless electrical system integration.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Experience: 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in electrical engineering, specifically focusing on medium-voltage (MV) and high-voltage (HV) transformer installation, testing, and commissioning.
- Leadership: Proven track record of managing and coordinating multi-disciplinary engineering or site execution teams.
- Technical Knowledge: Deep understanding of power system protection, substation components, and testing instruments (e.g., relay test sets, insulation and winding resistance meters).
- Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and communication capabilities necessary for navigating on-site challenges and client negotiations.
The Electrical Engineering Manager will oversee the design, operation, and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment related to power transformers and associated assets. This full-time, on-site & off-site role is based in Delhi, India and involves leading a team of engineers and technicians to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient project execution. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing and approving electrical designs, coordinating erection, testing, commissioning, and maintenance activities, and resolving technical issues through systematic troubleshooting. The role also includes planning resource allocation, monitoring project timelines, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations, and collaborating with the testing laboratory and R&D teams to improve processes and technical solutions. The Electrical Engineering Manager will be expected to prepare technical reports, support client communications, and promote continuous improvement in safety, quality, and performance.
