About the Role
We are seeking a Data Scientist with strong pharmaceutical, healthcare or life-sciences data experience to join our client's Real World Data (RWD) team.
You will build scalable, reproducible data pipelines and disease-specific datasets that support clinical research, health economics and outcomes studies. The role involves working with large healthcare datasets and collaborating closely with clinical SMEs, clinicians and data engineers to convert protocol-level specifications into computable, production-ready datasets.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate SME-designed clinical rules into scalable, reproducible SQL/Python pipelines.
- Integrate structured and unstructured patient-level data including claims, EMR/EHR, laboratory data and NLP-derived outputs.
- Build disease-specific datasets for cohort construction, index dating, treatment sequencing and clinical event labelling.
- Develop line-of-therapy algorithms covering combination regimens, treatment gaps, dose modifications and off-label use.
- Integrate diagnosis mentions, staging, biomarker results and progression language from NLP outputs.
- Produce data-quality reports and conduct sample-level audits to validate clinical logic against source data.
- Work with clinical SMEs to identify anomalies, close rule gaps and refine logic.
- Handle large-scale healthcare data using production-grade SQL and Python (or R).
Required Skills & Experience
- 4+ years of experience in Data Science, Biostatistics or Health Data Engineering within Life Sciences.
- Strong hands-on SQL and Python (or R) experience.
- Direct experience working with Claims Data, EMR/EHR data, or Real-World Data/HEOR datasets.
- Experience working with large healthcare datasets.
- Familiarity with NLP-derived outputs and unstructured healthcare signals.
- Experience implementing clinical event algorithms from protocol-level specifications.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder-collaboration skills.
Preferred
- Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, Redshift or similar cloud data platforms.
- Familiarity with OMOP CDM or another clinical data model.
- Experience with oncology or speciality-disease datasets.
- Experience working closely with clinical SMEs in a pod or cross-functional model.
Important
Candidates must be comfortable working remotely from India and consistently supporting the required 6:30 PM–10:30 PM IST ET overlap window.
