ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for a highly experienced Senior AWS Cloud Migration Architect to lead a large-scale enterprise cloud transformation initiative involving the migration of approximately 300 on-premises servers to AWS. This is a hands-on architecture and technical leadership role requiring proven experience delivering enterprise-scale AWS migration programs from assessment through production cutover. The successful candidate will work closely with infrastructure, application, security, networking, and business stakeholders to define and execute the migration strategy while ensuring minimal business disruption.
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the end-to-end migration of approximately 300 on-premises servers into AWS
- Define the overall AWS migration strategy, migration waves, and execution roadmap
- Conduct infrastructure and application discovery, dependency mapping, and migration planning
- Design secure, scalable, and highly available AWS landing zones
- Lead migration planning using AWS migration best practices and frameworks
- Architect migration approaches including: Rehost (Lift & Shift), Replatform, Refactor where appropriate
- Design AWS networking including: VPCs, Transit Gateway, VPNDirect Connect, Route53
- Design resilient compute architectures using: Amazon EC2Auto Scaling, Elastic Load Balancing, Amazon EBS, Amazon EFS
- Lead storage migration strategies
- Design backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity architectures
- Work closely with security teams to implement AWS security best practices including IAM, KMS, CloudTrail, GuardDuty, Security Hub, Config, and AWS Organizations
- Define infrastructure automation using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform and/or AWS CloudFormation)
- Develop migration runbooks, cutover plans, rollback procedures, and validation processes
- Provide technical leadership throughout migration execution
- Mentor engineering teams and review solution designs
- Collaborate with AWS Solution Architects and enterprise stakeholders
REQUIRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS
- 10+ years in Infrastructure and Cloud Architecture
- 7+ years of hands-on AWS architecture experience
- Proven experience leading large enterprise AWS migration programs
- Demonstrated experience migrating 200–500+ servers from on-premises data centers into AWS
- Strong experience with migration discovery, dependency analysis, and migration wave planning
- Experience delivering production migration cutovers
- Experience designing enterprise AWS Landing Zones
- Hands-on experience with hybrid connectivity (VPN, Direct Connect)
- Experience with Windows and Linux server migrations
- Experience migrating VMware-based workloads to AWS
- Experience with enterprise backup and disaster recovery solutions
- Experience working in regulated enterprise environments
