Overview of the Role
Seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to join the development team to support testing across all products in the suite, including the point-of-sale, analytics web applications, and website products.
To date, the team has never had a dedicated QA; testing is currently performed by the Product Manager, the Support Team, and President of the company. These team members will continue to do some testing and will help bring the new QA up to speed. This will be one of the most celebrated additions to the team, as current testers are excited to gain extra testing resources.
This team member will need to do manual testing, regression testing, and help develop testing automation, working closely with both US and Indian engineers and the Product Manager.
Working Hours
Working hours are IST, as the majority of the team is India-based, but you must be available from 8:00 to 10:00 AM ET for collaboration with US team members.
Hiring Arrangement
Independent contractor engagement, full-time availability.
Benefits and Time Off
Benefit consideration will be part of the total compensation for contracted technical team members. There are currently 22 total paid holiday/PTO/sick days.
Responsibilities
- Quality strategy for the whole suite: a Java POS in production since 2006, a new Vue.js + .NET next-gen product, analytics web apps, and two WordPress e-commerce platforms.
- Release testing — manual and regression coverage across a strict dev → staging → production workflow, so every release ships with a professional verdict.
- Technical investigation — deep QA: raw API calls in Postman, SQL against SQL Server (SSMS, often over RDP), reading logs, isolating root causes so engineers get reproductions, not vibes.
- The automation framework — choose the tools, build the foundation, automate the highest-value regression paths, and wire testing into the workflow. You define what CI-integrated quality looks like here.
- Quality visibility — test plans, coverage maps, bug-triage discipline, and release-readiness reporting the whole company can see.
Requirements
- 5+ years in QA
- Ability to use SQL scripts to analyze data
- Ability to use APIs in Postman for analyzing data
- Ability to communicate well by video and email in English
- Strong understanding of Git DevOps workflows
- Strong documentation skills
