Guthrie AI is Looking for:
Commercial glazing contractors build the glass facades of the world's most iconic buildings. These are high-stakes, complex bids, and the estimators who win them are some of the sharpest people in construction, buried under RFPs, addenda, and vendor quotes with no time to spare. We fix that but not by replacing human judgment. We make it superhuman.
Guthrie AI pairs every client with a Virtual Bid Assistant: a skilled human estimator, powered by our proprietary platform, who pulls scope from RFPs, manages RFIs, and generates proposals at a speed no solo estimator could match. We're ~$2M ARR and plan to 10x in the next 12 months. Seed-stage, AI-native, backed by top VCs, and moving fast.
The opportunity
You will own the core services that power our Virtual Bid Assistants. These are the systems where agents read RFPs, pull out scope, manage RFIs, and generate proposals end to end. This is deep backend work: data models, agent orchestration, integrations, and the reliability layer that lets estimators trust an agent with real bids.
We are a small team shipping every day. You will go from idea to production fast, own what you ship, and have a direct line from your work to revenue and customer impact.
What You'll Own
Core platform-
- Design and build the backend services behind our agentic estimating workflows in Python and Flask on PostgreSQL.
- Build and harden the orchestration that lets agents take multi-step actions reliably and safely.
- Model RFP, SOW, and structured data into systems that are correct, fast, and maintainable.
Reliability and integrations-
- Build integrations with the external data sources and tools that feed the agents.
- Own reliability, performance, and observability as usage scales toward our revenue targets.
Product partnership-
- Work directly with PMs, our designer, and Estimators to turn real bidding workflows into shipped product.
What You Bring
- 5+ years building production backend systems, with strong Python.
- A track record of going 0 to 1. You are comfortable with ambiguity, fast iteration, and owning a feature from idea to production.
- Experience running systems at scale. You have handled real reliability, performance, and data integrity challenges.
- Strong relational data modeling skills with PostgreSQL or similar.
- A shipping bias. You get working software in front of users and improve from there.
- You know what coding problems require AI, and where human judgement is needed.
Even Better If
- Experience building with LLMs, agents, or agentic workflows
- Construction, AEC, glazing, curtain wall, or architectural metals exposure.
- Flask, HTMX, or other server-rendered stacks.
- Veteran or other prior service background. Our founder is a Marine Corps Ground Intelligence Officer. This team understands and rewards that lane.
Interview Rounds
Round 1 - Tuneer (cultural fit, motivation, product interest).
Round 2 - Technical Assessment, Open-ended take-home project.
Round 3 - Kaz (CTO) + one other engineer.
