Job Title: Lead Software Engineer
Experience: 7 - 10 Years
As an AI Lead, you will own end-to-end delivery of GenAI engagements for Opteamix's enterprise clients, working alongside architects and project managers to take RAG and agentic AI systems from design into production. The role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership of a small team of AI engineers.
Key Responsibilities and Duties:
Lead AI engagement delivery:
- Own end-to-end delivery of GenAI engagements for enterprise clients.
- Work alongside architects and project managers to take AI initiatives from discovery through production rollout and steady-state operations.
- Set and communicate clear expectations on timelines, quality standards, and deliverables.
Design and build GenAI systems:
- Own detailed design across RAG pipelines, multi-agent and agentic workflows, function/tool calling, and MCP-based integrations, and lead module-level architectural decisions where required.
- Lead the team in shipping production-grade GenAI applications on at least one major cloud, with deployment automated via containers, infrastructure-as-code, and CI/CD.
- Tune systems for cost, latency, and reliability under enterprise workloads.
Own GenAI evaluation, observability, and safety:
- Build evaluation harnesses for prompts, retrieval, and agent workflows.
- Monitor for hallucinations, grounding issues, cost, and latency.
- Implement guardrails against prompt injection and other data exposure risks.
Lead a team of AI engineers:
- Lead and mentor a team of 3+ AI engineers through code reviews, design reviews, and pair programming.
- Set engineering standards for prompt management, evaluation, and experiment tracking.
- Conduct performance reviews and provide structured feedback.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams:
- Partner with security, compliance, and QA teams to deliver within enterprise constraints.
- Engage directly with client SMEs throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Translate between business stakeholders and the engineering team.
Stay current on the GenAI landscape:
- Evaluate emerging models, frameworks, and design patterns.
- Recommend additions or replacements to the Opteamix AI tech stack.
- Contribute to internal accelerators and reusable IP.
Project Mandatory Skills
Python, LLM APIs (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, or Gemini), RAG architecture (chunking, embeddings, re-ranking), vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, pgvector, or Azure AI Search), agentic frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, CrewAI, or AutoGen), MCP and function/tool calling, prompt engineering, LLM evaluation tooling (Ragas, LangSmith, or custom harnesses), at least one major cloud (AWS, Azure, or GCP), Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code (Terraform), FastAPI and microservices.
Project Desired Skills
Fine-tuning (LoRA or QLoRA), open-source LLMs (Llama, Mistral, or Qwen), voice and vision agents, GraphRAG and knowledge graphs (Neo4j).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, AI/ML, Data Science, or related field.
- 7 - 10 years of experience in software/AI engineering, with at least 2 years delivering GenAI systems in production.
- Proven leadership experience leading AI engineering teams of 3+ engineers.
- Knowledge of software development methodologies such as Agile or Scrum.
- Ability to mentor and train AI engineers.
