Chief Business Officer (CBO)
Original Sing is building toward becoming India’s most original voice in music, creating songs that move hearts and stay longer than a scroll.
We are looking for a Chief Business Officer with strong commercial instinct, exceptional music sense and the ambition to help Original Sing expand its reach, influence and commercial potential.
This is not a conventional corporate role. The CBO will work directly with the Founder & CEO as the business counterpart to the Founder’s creative leadership, with meaningful freedom to shape what Original Sing becomes.
The Mandate
The CBO will lead the business side of Original Sing, including:
Commercial strategy, business development and revenue growth
Strategic partnerships across music, film, entertainment, brands and technology
Music licensing, sync and catalogue monetisation
Relationships with labels, distributors, DSPs, platforms, artists, creators and industry partners
Negotiation and closure of commercial opportunities
Representation of Original Sing at industry events, meetings and relevant forums
Building the team and engaging additional specialists as the venture scales, including artist management where required
The CBO can increasingly become the business-facing representative of Original Sing, working closely with the Founder & CEO on strategic direction and growth.
Music Sense Matters
A strong music sense is essential.
The role requires someone who instinctively understands music, can recognise quality and potential, appreciates different styles and has a genuine emotional relationship with the art form.
Creative sensibility matters, but music sense matters separately and significantly.
Artists, musicians, singers, composers, producers, filmmakers and other creators may find the role particularly natural, although being an artist is not a prerequisite.
The CBO will also be welcome to contribute creatively, exchange ideas, jam on music and concepts, and participate in the creative evolution of Original Sing whenever there is genuine interest and chemistry. Creative contribution is an opportunity, not a requirement of the role.
Who Could Be Right for This?
There is no predetermined age, gender or conventional career path.
The right person could be a high-potential professional ready for genuine C-suite responsibility, an experienced professional returning after a career break, a seasoned executive looking for an entrepreneurial second innings, an independent professional, or someone who wants to build something meaningful alongside an existing career.
Professionals returning to work after a career break are particularly encouraged to express interest.
What matters most is judgement, capability, music sense, ambition, trust and alignment.
Working with the Founder
The CBO will work directly with the Founder & CEO and work alongside him as a trusted business and strategic counterpart as Original Sing grows.
Working chemistry, mutual respect, intellectual compatibility and a shared wavelength around music, creativity and ambition will matter.
The ideal CBO will bring perspective, constructive challenge, encouragement and commercial leadership, while being genuinely invested in the long-term success of Original Sing and what the two leaders can build together.
Working Structure
Mumbai is preferred, but not mandatory.
Original Sing does not define commitment by working hours. The CBO will have the freedom to determine how, when and from where the role is performed, with accountability centred on outcomes, ownership and impact.
The CBO may continue with another professional role or other commitments, provided there is transparency, no material conflict of interest and sufficient commitment to the responsibilities undertaken at Original Sing.
We are building a business, not recreating corporate life.
Commercial Structure
This is a commission-based collaboration with a 15% revenue share on opportunities originated, developed or materially closed by the CBO, structured for impact rather than hours.
Other mutually agreed commercial arrangements may evolve as Original Sing grows.
The Opportunity
Original Sing is not looking for someone to inherit a finished business.
It is looking for someone who wants to help take an already meaningful creative venture to its next level.
Someone who understands music, recognises possibilities, creates opportunities, opens doors, builds relationships and wants to play a defining role in where Original Sing goes next.
