About REM Labs
REM Labs is building the execution infrastructure for autonomous software delivery, enabling engineering workflows to run end to end with enterprise grade reliability, control, and governance.
As AI systems begin participating directly in engineering workflows, the hard problem is no longer output generation or agent orchestration. It is reliable execution, safety, and explainability.
We are building the execution infrastructure that makes this possible.
Role Overview
We are hiring a Founding Full Stack Engineer to build the product and operator experience for REM.
This is a founding engineering role focused on how enterprise users observe, understand, control, debug, and trust autonomous software delivery workflows.
A major part of the role is building the instrumentation and operational surfaces that make complex execution transparent. Users should be able to understand what happened, why it happened, where an execution currently stands, what failed, what was retried, what changed, and whether human action is required.
You will work directly with the founder, product designer, and founding engineering team to translate REM’s execution infrastructure into intuitive, reliable, and polished software.
This is not a traditional frontend implementation role or a generic CRUD full stack role.
We are looking for engineers who can build across modern frontend applications, backend services, APIs, real time state, event driven workflows, and production instrumentation.
The right person thinks deeply about product quality, systems behaviour, information architecture, usability, and how sophisticated backend systems should be represented clearly to enterprise operators.
This role is particularly relevant for engineers who have built workflow products, developer tools, observability products, internal engineering platforms, cloud consoles, operational software, or state rich enterprise applications.
You do not need prior experience across every domain REM touches.
What matters most is strong full stack engineering depth, sound product judgment, systems thinking, high ownership, and the ability to build durable production software in an ambiguous founding stage environment.
What You Will Work On
Workflow and Operator SurfaceBuild REM’s primary interface for autonomous software delivery workflows, including execution monitoring, approvals, intervention, workflow progression, and operator actions.
Instrumentation and Execution VisibilityBuild the instrumentation layer and product surfaces that expose execution state, state transitions, dependencies, events, retries, policy decisions, failures, and runtime health.
Ensure that complex system behaviour can be understood without exposing raw internal logs or requiring users to understand REM’s implementation.
Explainability and LineageDesign interfaces that help users answer:
- What happened
- Why it happened
- Which component or policy influenced the outcome
- Which artifacts and decisions led to the current state
- What happens next
Build clear execution timelines, causal lineage, decision history, and artifact traceability.
Operator ControlsBuild approval workflows, human intervention surfaces, execution controls, governance actions, pause and resume flows, exception handling, and bounded operator access.
Debugging and Observability ExperienceBuild experiences for logs, traces, events, execution replay, runtime inspection, failure diagnosis, dependency analysis, and support workflows.
Translate structured telemetry and execution evidence into useful debugging experiences for customers and internal operators.
Full Stack EngineeringBuild frontend and backend functionality across applications, APIs, product services, workflow state, persistence, event delivery, real time updates, and interaction layers.
Work closely with platform, backend, and AI engineers to define the interfaces required by the product surface.
Product FoundationsHelp establish frontend architecture, application state patterns, design system foundations, instrumentation standards, interaction models, and product quality principles from first principles.
What We Are Looking For
Typically 5 to 8 years of engineering experience across full stack engineering, product engineering, frontend architecture, or backend supported product platforms.
Strong candidates usually demonstrate meaningful experience across several of the following:
- Modern frontend engineering using React, Next.js, and TypeScript
- Backend services and APIs using Python, Go, Node.js, or similar technologies
- Complex state management and real time application behaviour
- Event driven interfaces, streaming updates, WebSockets, or server sent events
- Workflow products, developer tools, observability platforms, internal engineering systems, or enterprise SaaS
- Operational interfaces involving logs, events, timelines, status, failures, or debugging
- Production software used by enterprise customers, developers, or technical operators
- Strong frontend architecture, API design, and systems thinking
- High quality software craftsmanship beyond prototypes and basic dashboards
We are not looking for candidates whose experience is primarily limited to marketing websites, simple administrative interfaces, basic CRUD applications, or frontend component implementation without meaningful application ownership.
You do not need deep expertise across every area above.
We care most about strong engineering fundamentals, product craftsmanship, technical judgment, and the ability to collaborate with product design, backend, systems, and AI engineers.
Strong Pluses- Developer tooling or engineering productivity products
- Observability, monitoring, incident management, or debugging products
- Workflow orchestration or operational platforms
- Cloud consoles, infrastructure products, or internal developer platforms
- Enterprise operator experiences

- Experience in a strong product engineering company or high growth startup
What Success Looks Like
In the first few months, success means:
- Building REM’s initial workflow and operator experience
- Making autonomous execution visible, understandable, and controllable
- Establishing the initial instrumentation and execution timeline experience
- Shipping approval, intervention, debugging, and failure investigation workflows
- Translating execution events, policy decisions, state transitions, and evidence into clear product experiences
- Building supporting backend services and APIs required by the product surface
- Partnering closely with the product designer, Principal Engineer, Backend Engineer, and AI Engineer
