About The Role
ToyStack AI is hiring a Senior QA Tester / Engineer to lead and build the QA function from the ground up. You will be the first senior QA hire at an early-stage AI SaaS startup, directly owning test strategy, documentation, release management, and day-to-day direction of two junior testers — with scope to grow the team to 3–4. You will also serve as the QA point of contact for enterprise clients across government, logistics, and corporate sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end manual and automation testing across new and existing projects — functional, regression, smoke, sanity, and UAT
- Pick up projects from scratch, understand BRDs and requirements, and author all test plans, test strategies, and test cases
- Direct and guide junior testers; drive sprint QA deliverables and ensure team output quality
- Own and manage release cycles from a QA sign-off perspective
- Build and maintain automation frameworks using any stack (Python/Selenium/Pytest, JS/Cypress/Playwright, or Java/Selenium)
- Perform API testing using Postman and REST Assured / Swagger / OAuth
- Communicate directly with clients — gather requirements, report production issues, and maintain clarity on QA status
- Collaborate closely with development teams for bug triage, defect lifecycle management, and release readiness
Must-Have Requirements
- 4–8 years of hands-on QA experience with a strong manual E2E testing foundation
- Proven automation scripting experience — any stack (Python, JavaScript, or Java)
- Strong API testing skills — Postman and at least one of REST Assured, Swagger/OpenAPI, or OAuth
- Demonstrated ownership of test documentation — test plans, strategies, and cases authored independently
- Experience actively leading or directing a QA team (not just mentoring)
- Hands-on release management — has owned or co-owned QA sign-off for software releases
Good to Have
- Background in AI/ML product companies or healthcare/insurance domains
- SQL / database validation — MySQL or PostgreSQL
- CI/CD awareness — Jenkins or GitHub Actions
- Performance / load testing experience — JMeter or K6
- Comfort with early-stage startup environment and ESOP-based compensation
