Job Description:
Position: Embedded Engineer / Project Lead – Automotive Embedded Systems
Experience: 10 – 15 Years
Location: Bangalore
Engagement Type: Full-time, Work From Office
Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced Embedded Systems Project Lead to drive embedded software development engagements for our automotive OEM and Tier-1 customers. This role requires strong technical depth across automotive embedded domains, along with the ability to interact with clients, and ensure high-quality, on-time delivery across customer programs. The candidate should be comfortable working in a multi-customer, multi-domain services environment and have the ability to adapt to different client toolchains, coding standards, and development processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead embedded software development engagements for automotive customers across domains such as body control, powertrain, EV/BMS, connected vehicle, and diagnostics.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for assigned client accounts, managing day-to-day communication with customer engineering teams.
- Plan and manage project delivery — task allocation, effort estimation, timelines, and risk tracking — across onsite and offshore team members.
- Participate in client design reviews, technical discussions, and issue/defect resolution.
- Ensure delivery complies with client-specific quality frameworks (ASPICE, ISO 26262, ISO 21434) and coding/process standards.
- Support pre-sales activities including technical scoping, SOW input, and effort estimation for new client engagements.
- Manage resource planning and utilization across the account; identify staffing needs and skill gaps.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, ensure code quality through reviews, and drive technical best practices across distributed teams.
- Quickly ramp up on new client codebases, toolchains, and domain requirements as engagements shift or expand.
Required Skills:
Core Embedded Development:
- 10 –15 years of embedded software development experience, with strong hands-on C/C++ for automotive-grade microcontrollers.
- Experience across multiple automotive MCU platforms (Infineon, NXP, Renesas, STM32, TI) — breadth across platforms is preferable over deep specialization in one.
- Solid understanding of RTOS-based development (OSEK, AUTOSAR OS, or similar) and real-time embedded design principles.
- Debugging and validation experience using JTAG-based tools (Lauterbach Trace32 or equivalent).
Automotive Domains & Protocols:
- Strong working knowledge of CAN, LIN, and automotive Ethernet.
- Experience with UDS (ISO 14229) diagnostics, DTC management, and bootloader/flash reprogramming.
- Working knowledge of AUTOSAR Classic (BSW/RTE/MCAL configuration) using tools such as Vector DaVinci, EB tresos, or ETAS ISOLAR; AUTOSAR Adaptive exposure is a plus.
- Exposure to one or more of the following domains: body control modules, powertrain/EV-BMS, ADAS-adjacent systems, connected vehicle/telematics, or infotainment.
Process, Quality & Tools:
- Working knowledge of Automotive SPICE (ASPICE) delivery model.
- Familiarity with ISO 26262 functional safety concepts and ISO 21434 cybersecurity requirements.
- Experience with requirements/config management tools (DOORS, Polarion, Jama, Git, ClearCase).
- Hands-on experience with Vector CANoe/CANalyzer and HIL test environments.
- Experience in developing productivity / automation tools and AI driven assets.
Delivery, Client & Multi-Program Management:
- Demonstrated ability to work across multiple concurrent customer programs/domains — services-environment adaptability is essential.
- Strong track record of direct client interfacing with global automotive OEMs and Tier-1s.
- Experience with effort estimation, SOW support, and resource planning in a services/consulting delivery model.
- Comfortable working in blended onsite-offshore delivery structures, including extended client-site engagements when required.
- Excellent communication skills — ability to represent engineering capability confidently in client-facing settings.
Education:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
