About The Company
Lonza Bioscience is a leading provider of innovative solutions and tools for life science researchers, supporting the entire spectrum of therapeutic development from initial research to product release. Our commitment to excellence and scientific advancement enables us to serve customers across various modalities, including cell and gene therapies, recombinant proteins, vaccines, and injectable drugs. We specialize in primary human cell biology tools, which help develop more predictive models and accelerate the journey toward investigational new drug (IND) approval. Additionally, we are a trusted partner for critical raw materials and bioprocessing technologies, ensuring the highest standards of quality and efficiency in biomanufacturing. At Lonza, we are dedicated to powering the performance of One Lonza, fostering innovation, collaboration, and growth within the life sciences industry.
About The Role
The Senior Manager, Digital Commerce (Technical Product Owner) at Lonza is a strategic leadership role focused on managing and executing the technical product strategy for our digital commerce platform within the Bioscience division. This role is primarily responsible for overseeing enterprise integrations, including PunchOut and EDI, ensuring seamless connectivity between various internal systems and external partners. The position requires a deep understanding of enterprise commerce platforms, integration technologies, and B2B workflows. As the technical product owner, you will translate complex business and operational needs into scalable technical solutions, working closely with engineering, IT, and external vendors to deliver high-quality, reliable integrations that support our customer engagement and operational efficiency. The role involves both strategic planning—shaping the evolution of the platform and integrations—and hands-on execution—guiding requirements, prioritizing backlog items, and ensuring timely delivery. This position is critical in enabling Lonza’s digital commerce capabilities to meet the evolving needs of the bioscience industry and our customers.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a combination of technical expertise, product management experience, and industry knowledge. Key qualifications include proven experience as a Technical Product Owner or Senior Product Manager within enterprise platform environments, with a strong emphasis on digital commerce and integrations. Experience working with SAP Commerce Cloud (Hybris), SAP PCM, and familiarity with ERP, middleware, or integration platforms such as SAP CPI or Mulesoft is highly desirable. Candidates should have demonstrated success in owning product roadmaps, making prioritization and trade-off decisions, and translating business needs into technical requirements. Industry experience in life sciences, biotech, or regulated environments is a plus. Strong communication skills, stakeholder management abilities, and experience working in Agile delivery teams are essential. Certifications such as Product Owner or Agile certifications will be viewed favorably.
Responsibilities
- Own and maintain the digital commerce product and integration roadmap, ensuring alignment with business goals, customer requirements, and technical dependencies across PunchOut, EDI, ERP, and commerce platforms.
- Continuously refine the roadmap and backlog based on delivery learnings, stakeholder feedback, and evolving business priorities, making informed trade-offs to maximize value.
- Act as the primary liaison between business stakeholders (Sales, Customer Service, Commercial Operations) and technical teams (Engineering, IT, External Partners) to ensure clear communication, shared understanding, and alignment on project scope and priorities.
- Facilitate cross-functional discussions to gather detailed requirements, clarify integration impacts, and manage dependencies, ensuring readiness for end-to-end system integration.
- Lead planning and execution of PunchOut and EDI initiatives, coordinating internal teams and external vendors to deliver high-quality solutions on time and within scope.
- Provide regular updates to stakeholders regarding project status, risks, dependencies, and timelines, proactively managing expectations and addressing issues promptly.
- Manage and prioritize the product backlog, making strategic decisions based on business value, technical complexity, and integration impact.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, backlog grooming, demos, and retrospectives to ensure continuous improvement and delivery efficiency.
- Support release planning, deployment, and post-deployment validation to ensure successful integration rollouts.
- Oversee and guide business analysis activities, ensuring requirements are comprehensive, testable, and aligned with technical feasibility, and provide final approval on scope and priorities.
