Role Description The Senior WordPress Developer – Agency Projects & Client Support role is a contract position based in Bengaluru with a hybrid work model, allowing a mix of on-site and work-from-home arrangements. This role involves leading the development, customization, and maintenance of WordPress websites for agency-led projects and key clients, including building custom themes and plugins, optimizing performance, and ensuring responsive, accessible designs. The developer will manage day-to-day technical requests, troubleshoot issues, perform site updates, and coordinate deployments, while collaborating with designers, project managers, and other developers to deliver high-quality solutions within agreed timelines. Responsibilities also include reviewing code, suggesting improvements to architecture and workflows, documenting technical solutions, and providing clear, professional communication to internal stakeholders and clients regarding project status and technical guidance.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong WordPress development skills, including custom theme and plugin development, familiarity with Gutenberg/modern editors, and hands-on experience with popular page builders.
- Candidates should possess solid front-end skills such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and responsive design, with a focus on cross-browser compatibility and performance optimization.
- Candidates should possess back-end and integration skills, including PHP, MySQL, REST APIs, and experience connecting WordPress sites with third-party services and marketing tools.
- Candidates should possess experience in version control and deployment workflows, using tools like Git, CI/CD pipelines, and staging environments for safe updates and rollbacks.
- Candidates should possess strong debugging, problem-solving, and site maintenance skills, including error diagnosis, security best practices, backups, and ongoing performance monitoring.
- Candidates should possess excellent communication and client-facing skills, with the ability to understand requirements, translate them into technical tasks, and provide clear status updates.
- Relevant qualifications such as a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, along with experience in agency environments or handling multiple concurrent client projects, are highly beneficial.
- Additional beneficial experience includes familiarity with SEO best practices, accessibility standards, WooCommerce, and other common WordPress extensions used in professional client work.
