About Bold Clay Studios
Bold Clay Studios designs and builds modular homes ("mod-homes") for landowners who want a reliable, design-forward contractor to bring their vision to life. We're building our digital presence from the ground up and looking for a designer/developer who can shape how we show up online — starting with our visual identity and website.
About the Role
We're looking for a versatile designer to create our company logo and build a modern, fast, SEO-optimized website that's also structured for discoverability by AI/LLM-based search tools (like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and AI Overviews). You'll also handle deployment and hosting setup, so the site is live, secure, and easy for us to maintain going forward.
This is a great fit for a freelancer or small studio who enjoys owning a project end-to-end — from brand concept to a live, working website.
Responsibilities
- Design a distinctive, professional logo and basic brand identity (color palette, typography, usage guidelines) that reflects a modern, trustworthy construction/design brand
- Design and develop a responsive company website (typically 5–8 pages: Home, About, Services, Portfolio/Projects, Process, Contact, etc.)
- Optimize the site for traditional SEO (page speed, metadata, structured data/schema markup, mobile-friendliness, sitemap, clean URLs)
- Optimize content structure for LLM/AI search visibility (clear semantic HTML, structured data, crawlable content, well-organized FAQs, and content that answers user intent directly)
- Set up hosting and domain configuration, SSL, and basic performance/security best practices
- Provide brand assets (logo files, favicon, style guide) in web and print-ready formats
- Hand off documentation for future edits/maintenance, or offer ongoing maintenance as an add-on
Requirements
- Proven portfolio of logo/brand design work
- Experience designing and building websites (Webflow, WordPress, or custom code — your choice, but tell us what you recommend and why)
- Working knowledge of SEO fundamentals (technical SEO, on-page SEO, schema markup)
- Familiarity with optimizing content for AI/LLM search (llms.txt, structured data, clear answer-first content formatting) — or willingness to learn/apply current best practices
- Experience with domain/hosting setup (e.g., Vercel, Netlify, GoDaddy, SiteGround, or similar)
- Strong communication skills and ability to work independently with occasional check-ins
Nice to Have
- Experience designing for construction, real estate, architecture, or home-building brands
- Copywriting skills for web content
- Basic photography/image editing for showcasing project portfolios
