About Indus
Indus is building the easiest way for people living overseas to invest in India.
Through the Indus app, investors in Australia and New Zealand can access 500+ Indian mutual funds without needing an Indian bank account. We operate at the intersection of finance, technology, culture and the global Indian identity.
We are looking for someone who can turn that intersection into a social media presence people genuinely want to follow.
The Role
This is not a “schedule five posts a week” social media role.
We are looking for someone who can become the creative and editorial brain behind Indus’s social presence. Someone who is tapped into what is happening in markets, the economy, culture and the lives of Indians overseas, and can quickly turn those moments into relevant, intelligent and entertaining content for the Indian diaspora.
You will be responsible for keeping the Indus brand alive every day: identifying interesting conversations, developing original content formats, reacting quickly to opportunities and building a distinctive voice across platforms.
You should be comfortable moving between a serious explanation of currency depreciation, a sharp reaction to a major economic announcement, a culturally relevant meme and a beautifully executed brand campaign.
What You’ll Own
Social media strategy and execution
- Own the day-to-day presence of Indus across Instagram, Internal newsletters and communities, LinkedIn and X.
- Develop a clear content strategy for each platform.
- Build and manage the content calendar while leaving room to react quickly to news, trends and opportunities.
- Write captions, scripts, carousels, hooks, threads, campaign concepts and short-form video ideas.
- Work closely with designers, video editors, founders and subject-matter experts to take content from idea to publication.
- Ensure that content is accurate, compliant and consistent with the Indus brand.
Creative development
- Constantly identify new formats, recurring series, cultural moments and storytelling angles for the brand.
- Translate complex topics such as investing, mutual funds, taxation, currency movements and economic policy into content that feels clear and engaging.
- Find ways to make financial content feel culturally relevant without making it superficial or gimmicky.
- Build campaigns that feel original to Indus rather than copied from other fintech brands.
- Maintain a high creative bar across writing, design direction, video and overall presentation.
News, markets and cultural relevance
- Stay closely informed about India’s economy, financial markets, global investing, the Indian diaspora and major developments in Australia and New Zealand.
- Identify stories and events that Indus should respond to—and equally, recognise when the brand should not join a conversation.
- React quickly to relevant announcements, market movements and cultural moments.
- Develop strong editorial judgement around what will matter to our audience.
Brand building
- Help define and strengthen the Indus tone of voice.
- Ensure every piece of content feels unmistakably like Indus.
- Protect the brand from becoming generic, overly corporate or indistinguishable from AI-generated financial content.
- Develop a consistent visual and editorial language across organic content, paid campaigns and founder-led communication.
- Help build trust while keeping the brand energetic, modern and human.
What We’re Looking For
- Basic video editing skills.
- Exceptional writing and storytelling ability is a non-negotiable.
- Strong understanding of finance, investing, economics and current affairs.
- An active interest in culture, social media, internet behaviour and emerging content formats.
- Extremely strong attention to detail.
- A clear understanding of brand - voice, positioning, taste and consistency.
You’ll Be a Strong Fit If
- You naturally connect economic news with everyday human behaviour.
- You regularly save interesting ads, posts, films, headlines, formats and cultural references.
- You can explain a complicated financial idea without making it sound like a textbook.
- You know the difference between reacting quickly and chasing every trend.
- You have strong opinions about what makes a brand feel premium, credible and culturally relevant.
- You are comfortable starting with a blank page and turning an observation into a campaign.
- You care about outcomes, not simply publishing volume.
This Role Is Probably Not for You If
- You rely entirely on a predetermined monthly content calendar.
- You need detailed instructions for every post.
- You see social media primarily as posting, scheduling and reporting.
- You are uncomfortable with finance, markets or economic news.
- Your default approach is to imitate whatever another fintech brand is doing.
- You optimise for quantity at the expense of originality and brand quality.
What Success Looks Like
Within your first six months:
- Indus has a recognisable and consistent social media voice.
- The brand is producing original, repeatable content formats.
- Content responds more quickly and intelligently to relevant news and cultural moments.
- Organic reach, engagement and follower quality are growing.
- Social content is contributing to customer education, trust and acquisition.
- The wider team sees social media as a source of ideas and insight, not simply a distribution channel.
Experience
We are open to candidates from social media, journalism, finance, advertising, content, entertainment or brand backgrounds.
Approximately 2-4 years of relevant experience is preferred, but quality of thinking, judgement and portfolio will matter more than years of experience.
