Job Overview
We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Systems Architect and Delivery Lead to drive the design, development, and delivery of our next-generation 4G/5G and O-RAN Operations, Administration, and Maintenance (OAM) software systems
In this role, you will leverage your deep expertise in 3GPP standards, O-RAN specifications, and cloud-native architectures to architect high-performance solutions. You will lead, mentor, and align engineering teams to successfully deliver large-scale OAM development, sustenance, and customer support programs while communicating effectively with senior internal and external stakeholders.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Architecture & Engineering: Lead the systems engineering, design, architecture, coding, debugging, and deployment of mission-critical 4G/5G OAM software systems.
- Technical Team Leadership: Review technical designs and mentor high-performance OAM development teams to foster engineering excellence.
- Program Delivery: Drive large-scale 4G/5G OAM development, software sustenance, and customer support programs from inception to deployment.
- Stakeholder Management: Serve as the primary technical point of contact, effectively communicating progress, architecture roadmaps, and strategies to senior internal executives and external stakeholders.
Technical Skill-Set & Expertise1. Wireless Standards & Data Models (3GPP) - 4G/5G RAN & Core Network Architecture: Proficient in network management principles across LTE and 5G NR/5GC networks.
- Configuration Management (CM):
- 4G: Generic NRM (TS 32.622/28.622), E-UTRAN NRM (TS 32.762/28.658), EPC NRM (TS 32.752/28.708), and EPC + non-3GPP interworking (TS 28.612).
- 5G: 5G NRM information models (TS 28.541).
- CM & Provisioning Procedures:
- 4G: Basic and Bulk CM operations and interfaces (TS 32.602, TS 32.612)
- 5G: Provisioning procedures, network slice/NSSI allocation, and generic management services (TS 28.531, TS 28.532).
- Fault Management (FM): Extensive knowledge of alarm structures and lifecycle management using 3GPP standards (TS 32.111-2 for 4G; TS 28.111 and TS 28.532 REST/OpenAPI for 5G)
- Performance Management (PM) & KPIs:
- 4G: PM counters and KPI definitions for RAN and EPC (TS 32.425, TS 32.426, TS 32.450, TS 32.455).
- 5G: PM counters, end-to-end KPI definitions, Performance Assurance, and generic MnS procedures (TS 28.552, TS 28.554, TS 28.550, TS 28.532, TS 38.314).
- PM Procedures: Formats, conventions, and file transfers (TS 32.412, TS 32.432).
- Trace Management: Mastery of subscriber/equipment trace control, configuration, data definition, and management across 4G and 5G networks (TS 32.422, TS 32.423, TS 32.442), including MDT, RLF, and RCEF reporting.
- O-RAN Architecture & Specifications
- WG1 (Architecture & IM): Information/Data Models and OAM Architecture specifications.
- WG3 (Near-RT RIC & E2): E2 GAP, E2SM, KPM, RAN Control (RC), Cell Configuration and Control (CCC), Lower Layers Control (LLC), and Network Interface (NI).
- WG4 (Open Fronthaul): Management Plane (M-Plane) specs, YANG models, Cooperative Transport Interface, and Transport Management Procedures.
- WG5 (Open F1/W1/E1/X2/Xn): D2 Interface, O1 Interface specs for O-CU-UP, O-CU-CP, and O-DU (including YANG models and Configuration Tables), and D2 O&M requirements
- WG6 (Cloudification & Orchestration): O2 Interface (GA&P, DMS Kubernetes Native API profile, ETSI NFV profile), O-Cloud Information Model, O-Cloud Notification API, and Application Service Descriptor (ASD).
- WG9 (Open X-haul Transport): Synchronization Architecture and Solution Specification (YANG models) and Transport Network Element Management interfaces
- WG10 (OAM): O1 Interface Specifications, Topology Exposure and Inventory Management Services (Use Cases, CIMI Stage 2, Data Model Stage 3, API Stage 3), Information/Data Models, and O1 Performance Measurements/NRM.
- Software Engineering & Infrastructure
- Programming Languages: Strong hands-on coding background in C/C++ (specifically C++11 and higher), Python, and Object-Oriented (OO) design concepts
- Systems Programming: Advanced experience with multi-threading and multi-processing architectures running on Linux
- Protocols & Serialization: High proficiency in Netconf/YANG, ASN.1, XML, JSON, YAML, HTTP(S), and SNMP.
- Data Streaming: Experience using Apache Kafka for real-time logging, metrics collection, and event processing.
- DevOps & Cloud-Native Platforms: Hands-on experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Container platforms, build environments (makefiles), and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
Qualifications & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Telecommunications, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 12 years of hands-on experience in 4G/5G OAM product development.
- Proven track record in a leadership role driving the execution and delivery of 4G/5G OAM development programs.
